    Pretty heavy but compact.

What tends to be the cheapest way to ship such an item?

First you have to find a good box! Preferably a double walled box. Last one I shipped I used a strut box and filled the voids up SOLID with cardboard and shipped it via FedEx.

Lots of bubble wrap and a strong box. I think it's important for it to be packed tight so it can't shift around. I had a compressor shipped to me and it arrived fine like that.

Shipped an intake manifold from FL to CA once. REALLY HEAVY!

Used a strong box, LOTS of packing--I think I started with lots of crumpled newspaper to put in all the "holes" and cover the critical points and then filled it with styrofoam peanuts and pieces of styrofoam cut from one of those cooler-type boxes they send refrigerated medicine in to "brace" it in the box so it did not move. I would wrap it in lots of bubble wrap, surround it with paper and styrofoam, and keep it in the middle of the box. Lots of good tape, and FedEx is usually much less than UPS unless you have a business account.

    Cheers,

TexasT Texas, where are you from

I'd go with some wood to strengthen the inside of a box. And plenty of packing material to keep the compressor still and that way it won't try to escape the box. If it can't support a 250lb man jumping on it the box isn't strong enough.

USPS large flat rate box. Use another box or two to pack the compressor inside and tape the crap outta it. 18.95 if it fits it ships and has insurance + tracking.

Scrap plywood from the side of the road, some old rags, and some wood screws.
    I think it will survive... 20191016_080427.jpg 20191016_080739.jpg
