I would trust TCI to have the right geometry. Thier lockup kit works perfectly!!!!!!!

I normally just use a stock bracket from a Q jet equiped vehicle that has a 7004R or 2004R. The 80s cars with the 2004r and the minivans with the carbed 4.3 have them.

    Thanks Sean.

I just bought the OEM 80's part from a fellow board member which is the original the TCI product was designed after and sold by Summit racing. I also am having the carbs valve body redone as recommended in Cliff's book and by the carbs rebuilder who advised the use of a 284 cam required more modifications to the carb then first realized due to the cam causing a significant reduction in vacuum. In the end I hope everything comes together as it should with my engine idle and tranny shift points. Hopefully my next post if not ANOTHER question will be related to positive results!

I hope we helped... If I remember right my first guess was geometry being off, thats very common!

As far as the tranny goes. It was only when someone sat in the car and depressed the gas pedal that while looking under the hood you could see the geometry was off. The crappy aftermarket TV cable bracket flexed right at mid-point. It never did this while checking operating the carb by hand under the hood. I’m hoping when the bracket is replaced with an OEM one things will get better but there might be issues with the TA manifold’s rise interfering with the cable resulting in the need for some modifications. We’ll have to wait and see after I get the part. Once the cable issue is addressed more weight may have to be taken off the governor to get the shifting where I want it but maybe I’ll get lucky.

As far as the carb goes, the rebuilder only recently indicated the carb was not built for a 350 with a cam like the 284. Hopefully the alterations recommended will allow it to breath so that the engine runs better at idle and in gear.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the changes and adjustments this time around will finally bring things together and leave me with a nice set off “smooth running” wheels. As of right now I'm missing my original 2bbl stock 350! LOL
Thank again for everyone’s input and help!
