    Michael Evans a new project

I had a "SF" 455 that did not want to drop down to get the bolt through on the passenger side.

I loosened the bolt that hold the mount to the block and it was almost, but had to drill the holes a little bigger than the 3/8 inch that they are and it wend right in.

Thanks Mike, FMt bolts were such a pain I hoped I"d never have to touch them again.
And do you paint the frame mounts or just leave them bare.
I just took & uploaded pics, but they went into the Twilight Zone.:(

Ok, I see Mike, you mean you loosened the engine mount bolts at the block.
    Thanks Mike and 87GN

Is the trans bolted to the crossmember ???Are you using the correct mount holes on the block ??? Being that far off seems like you have the mount bolted to the wrong holes.

Does the trans cross member need to be moved back ?

What do you know for sure? Has the engine been in the car before, are there any new parts, are both sides of the motor mounts off the same, what was being done to cause you to be reinstalling the engine, is it a manual trans or auto and I'm assuming its already in the car?

I thought he was on the mount but couldn't get the long bolts through. That's why I asked if they were new mounts. Sometimes they have a skin of rubber along the inside of the mount that gets the mount hung up a bit from lining up.

Yeah, I agree, that far off means he needs to move the motor mount to the other set of holes.

    $865 for Eng and th400 :D
I'm hoping when I lower trans things will come together.
But Best to ask the Best on here.

I agree Jason. Only difference is he is using a 350 trans. But I don't think it would be that far off. Is there a big difference in length to the trans mount from a 350 to a 400 ???

The engine doesn't care which trans is behind it. The engine is in the same place regardless. The trans ceossmember gets moved around to accommodate the different lengths. I just double checked the beater and the mounts use the rear holes.

I ME 020.jpg bolted the mounts where it shows to in George's Fine Article on 350/455 swap.
