Some may ask why not use Buy It Now if the bid reached that point. I've been guilty of this too but alot of times if there's something on Ebay and it has a BIN well below market, depending on my financial footing, I will bid above to kill the BIN and if I get it for cheaper, great. If not, well, I guess I just "blue falcon" somebody. I think Ebay changed the rules, cause the BIN option used to be gone after the first bid, but now it last until....

Good luck with the sale. I've enjoyed reading this thread as it unfolds.

You have the option to pull the auction up to 24 hrs before it ends. After that it must sell.

I say pull it and list it again with your new knowledge and higher reserve or buy it now.

You got lucky this time and I'm happy for that.
I always put myself in the same situation and like you I'd puke if someone hit the BIN button after learning my item was worth way more than I listed it for.
If it were me and some one hit the BIN button, I think I'd take the neg feedback and cancel the deal.

I can see both sides of the auction (seller and buyer) and as a buyer, ethically you know $13k is too cheap for this car.
But then ethically as a seller a deal is a deal... so I guess I dont know what Id do...
Im just glad the BIN is gone and you might get a good bidding war near the end.
    Ill sure be watching...

JUST SO YOU KNOW I DIDNT MEAN ANYTHING BAD IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN I STARTED THE POST, IT DID JUST LOOK TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. AND NOW THAT YOU SAID THAT ABOUT THE BUY IN NOW MISTAKE IT MAKES SENSE. I WISH I COULD AFFORD THE CAR IT WOULD LOOK NICE SITTING NEXT TO MY 70 VERT.

Found the transmission numbers today. Unless I'm mistaking the first digit they match the Vin.

    Trans Number is 40H196754.

    Vin is 446370H196754.

Between the Vin, trans, and window sticker is seems I have a true non numbers matching (engine) GS455 Stage 1.

I can't see the block numbers clearly but I see numbers on the block between 1 and 3, not 5 and 7. If any of the Buick experts want to help me, please respond.

    Thanks.

    Hi Marlon,

At least the TH400 matches :beer

Regarding the engine, let's start off with the simple things. Is it a 1970 engine block? Look behind the intake on top of the bell housing for the casting number - it should be 1231738. If it is the correct 1970 casting number, what numbers do you see between 1 and 3? It should also be 40H196754 in that location. There's also a block date casting up front, but lets first stick to any numbers you see between 1 and 3.

Verified matching numbers block. Thought block was shaved. Just heavy paint. It's a numbers matching block and trans. Still haven't found the SS but the vin is between 1 and 3. I've tried to upload pictures but can't. If anyone is still interested I am going to try to upload to ebay.

Congrats Marlon!! I guess good luck does happen:beer

Good luck with the sale. Class act in my book. I wish I hit the buy it now when I first saw it but I'm a bonehead too!!!:spank:

It took me a while to find the numbers on my 1970GS455 convert but they were there.

So, have you checked the rear end yet? A 10 bolt 3:64 was standard on a non-AC 70 stage1 so I'm guess it's original too....WOW!

    Good luck again,
    Lon

This auction was killing me. I apologize to all for a big waste of your time. I got very lucking with the buy it now thing. I recieved so many questions about numbers and had to check so many things I began realized I just could not let this car go. I'm 40 years old and wanted a 70 ST1 since I was 16. I bought this one, my first, at 35. When I bought it, until now, I never checked any of these numbers because I was never going to sell and I didn't want to know if it was a fake.

I was contacted by the owner of this car from 84 to 88. Al came over and we talked cars for a couple of hours and I saw the way he went on about my car. He redid the motor, brakes, exhaust, etc. The car, with the exception of the carb swap, was still his work. It has 5,000 miles on it since he sold it in 88. I thought these tires where new, there 20 years old. After talking with him, I just couldn't sell.

Anyway, this wasn't an advertising method, if anything, I hurt the chances of selling on this board.

+1...I wouldn't want to sell that beauty either. Forgive some of us for doubting the original auction authenticity (myself included), it really did seem too good to be true. Ending the auction for not wanting to sell is perfectly legit imo...Lord knows I have changed my mind both times I was set to sell my cars

Uh, I'm not 100% sure, but 99.834576549% sure. I looked at this car about two years ago for a board member. The car has a 350 in it. The car had all the badging of a 455 and even chrome valve covers. But the back of the intake said 350 and it had 6 nut valve covers.

Guy said he owned it since new, so the dealer must have screwed him on the engine. Yeah, right.

Phil, not sure you responded to the right thread. This car was not for sale 2 years ago.

    Marlon,
you didn't hurt your chances of selling a car on this board, trust me:rolleyes: Not unless your willing to give it away.

That was kinda neat, what did the car get up to before you pulled it off ebay? Randy
