    Chris,
I noticed that while this car may not have had the GSX documentation it say's it was a numbers matching car, pretty significant difference compared to what James describes above (had a sbc in it?).
And that does appear to be one beautiful car, I much prefer the non-stereotype colors for the GSX (limemist, platnium mist...)

    Len,

Mark built and sold that car as a non #'s car, but the people in Houston are apparently selling it as a #'s matching car. This is discussed in another thread, but has my interest since I feel mine could one day be very similar, and the value is important to me in deciding whether to build mine or not.

I do appreciate all the helpful info, so please keep the opinions coming!!

Dealer probably figures nobody will know the difference. And most won't.
Tough call for ya, lotta green to get a car done these days, I just finished (some small stuff left) and had to make alot of compromises, still spent $7500 more than I thought I would, and I'm at least that much upside down based on the market. Thankfully it's the car I always wanted so I'm gonna drive the tires off it, then let someone else have it.

    wormwood,
I tried to post this yesterday, but got kicked off the board.

I did not take your post as nasty. I will just sit back and wait until you guys do the homework and get the info I asked about. Then when you PM me I can give you my opinion.

    James,
If you give me the part number off the frame I can tell wether your car was a small block or big block car.

I really do believe this car is a real GSX, and Black on Silver is a nice color combo that would look great if done correct. Marks old Gold car looks great. Is there any breakdown of production #'s of the six different paint codes available of the 124 GSX's produced that year?

Duane - I sent you an PM.

    You lost me....

The car is Bittersweet Mist (62). Are you planning on changing the color to:
    ?

I would NOT change the original color, then again Bittersweet Mist is my favorite (plus looks great with Black stripes, this coming from someone who is NOT a fan of the stripes)! My 2 cents worth.

    James,

Iam the owner of the Bittersweet Mist GSX - GOOD NEWS!!! Your body tag looks just like mine. I believe your car is a TRUE GSX. Now..... What engine was in it I'm not sure. Good luck on the resto of a great car, you will love it in a few years.

    Tim,

Welcome to v8buick.com! As I'm sure you have read, we have been talking about your car, and it's value. Needless to say, we all have different opinions, but that is what makes this forum great - the members are all Buick guys that are willing to share their knowledge and opinions without any hidden agendas.

In case someone who is interested, why are you selling your car? I hope all this helps you with the sale of it, or maybe you will decide to keep it now that you know how much interest these cars can generate. Good luck.

As far as the cowl tags looking the same, they all look like that but the numbers are obviously specific to your vehicle. Do you mind sharing your cowl tag data with us?

Thanks for the reply. Again, welcome to the board.

Well, the reason I was selling the car is to help me in buying a new business ( bodyshop ) But after reading all of the comments, I am having second thoughts. I always considered changing the motor and putting a killer 455 in, but thought keeping it "original" was the thing to do. BUT... after reading all the comments about dropping the big motor in it and not hurting the value, maybe its time to rethink this whole idea !!!

    James,

By the way - my tag is the same Except for body - 001202 and trim is 108 (standard black bench ) Maybe I should change the car the way everybody else thinks it should appear? Can it be that bad to change the motor and interior???

Humm...low body number. A SCO car for sure. Would really help if you found a build sheet. Duane can decode them for you.

As far as removing the engine...that would be fine, but I would keep the engine/trans/rearend stored away for the future. Go ahead and play race car with it, but keep the original stuff safely stored away. I'd keep the interior as it is. If nothing else, it sure is a conversation starter.

    Brad,

Thank you for your opinion. Coming from someone that has as many great cars as yours, It makes me really think about a change! As for the build sheet- MIA . But have something just as good. The selling dealer original car invoice sheet that shows all of the options and prices. Believe me that it was a shock to get this document from the dealer on May 9th, 2001 !!!
