I have not personally used those ( had a 67 'lark 300 ) but would say they should . The one thing maybe would be if your California car has some special air pump bracket hookup etc related to exh manifold .
And some ac , trans options make a difference also .
    FYI , shop around . I wasn't loving that price .
And as a side note , if your car is a lower budget cruiser you can do the headers later . Stock manifolds with a good dual exhaust system will cover your needs until you do more mod's and have a bigger budget .
Edit : yeah just checked quick , same looking headers @ eBay and summit website , $330-$390 .

I remember some people saying they fit skylarks well.

My smog pump went missing probably 30 years ago. It is an AC dar but those parts went missing years ago as well. I would like to piece an AC system back together eventually but not in a real hurry. My passenger side manifold has a steel line coming from the collecter area up to the carb area. It is not hooked to anything now. I dont know what its actually for either.

That's for the choke. It supplies warm air to the choke coil on the side of the carb. The warm air makes that coil expand which opens up the choke as the engine warms.

I thought I read those headers don't help much? Best to search the board for more opinions.

Ok cool. My current carb is a manual choke.

I notice when the car is warming up there seems to bee a clicking noise coming from that port on the collector. Is there a valve shuttling in there ? Anything I should worry about ?

There's a flapper valve at the exit of the exhaust manifold. There's a thermal spring there too (or was, once upon a time!) When the engine is cold, it's partly closed so exhaust gas backs up, flows thru the passages in the intake and under the carb to warm it up, and out the exhaust on the other side. It's probably bouncing open/closed a little.... which is better than it being frozen shut.
You can take it out but will need something to seal the manifold to the exhaust pipe like a exhaust donut. Or just tie it open.

I run those sanderson shortys on my 67 gs 340.
They let the engine breath a lot better
The factory manifold outlets are either 2 inch or smaller.
    The sanderson are 2.5 outlet.
Thats a large increase of area. They will not work with a factory z bar and ball stud for clutch cars. Should work fine on automatics i would assume. Seems like i had to adjust the brake distribution block a lil on the frame rail because the collector of the header was real close to it.
In the end i was happy with them and
    They definitely helped in performance.
I matched them with a 2.5 mandrel bent ext from summit that had generic 2 chamber mufflers

with automatics just turn the linkage rod around, where it goes into the hole. well made headers.

Mine is original with the 340-4 and ST-300 2 speed.

  11. the ports on the Sanderson headers are smaller than the ports on the heads. I brought this to their attention a few years ago and they fixed mine( poorly) I don't know if they corrected all later versions.

    alec296 i need another buick

Get a 350 trans a 2200 small block rated torque converter. A set of 350 heads and intake, and a crower level 3 cam with bearing journal milled to fit 340 bearing . No headers needed.
