Same part number on both, same manufacturer, different style cogs and even a different size if you look at the measurements on the package. Need a matched set as it is a dual pulley.

Can’t blame Rock Auto, but wished the employee was paying more attention when they grabbed the parts. Sent a replacement request to Rock Auto, we’ll see how that goes, usually has been no problem for me.

Has anybody else had this happen to them?

It's very difficult to get a matched set anymore. I found that you need to buy several belts and match them up yourself. It took me six belts to be able to get two that were the same size.

    BUICKRAT Got any treats?

You have to ask for a matched set. I believe dayco still makes "matchmaker" belts. Back in the day, they would be sold as such and both would be in the same sleeve. You will be very lucky to get 2 belts the exact same size when packaged separately.
You also got carquest, which is nothing more than a re-branded belt of unknown manufacture. Could be that 2 different manufacturers made those belts. Matched sets are very precise.

Rock Auto said they would refunded my money into my paypal account. Same item/brand is no longer available due to it being a "wholesaler closeout" so they said to order a different brand. Money was refunded today so ordered another set NOT on clearance. They also said I could keep the parts I received and as of now don't need to send them back. Looks like I have some spare belts now.

Makes a nice change to hear a positive and prompt result to put things right, all too often we get the horror stories.
It is common in my experience to find variations in v belt lengths with same part #. Whether it is due to date of manufacture / shift / chosen poison of machine operator I don't know. When requiring a matched pair I've always used the parts store checker with a handful of belts to get as close as possible. When I worked in a Toyota dealership the twin belts for diesel hilux's came as two in a bag for a reason.
Out of interest are there any numbers on your new spare belts that don't match up?

    Now that is odd.
