Bad news guys, my wife bought a 97 Taurus today :ball: I am taking it pretty hard. But, that is what she insisted on getting, so I was overpowered by "It's so cute," I mean how can I argue with her, it is irrational. -Chris
hopefully its not like this I hope it dosen't become one of the 91 taurus's http://hometown.aol.com/MKBradley/index.html nate
I feel for ya man! After 2 months of shopping, the babe finally settled on a 96 SHO. It's not an awful car, for a Ford, but STILL! I even had her test drive 2 Supercharged Riv's and she still went with the Taurus. Something about 4 doors and it being the right color, or something. Talk about having different priorities... Sort of on the bright side, I think I'm getting her talked into replacing it because of this: http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/DetroitFreePressTaurusSHOownersallegecostlydefect.htm Catastrophic engine failure with little or no warning? That made her nervous. Never get that kinda crap in a pushrod motor, that's for sure. - Freed
Well I wouldn't actually go out and buy one.......but, work car is a 96 Taurus. Got it about 1 1/2 years ago with 32,000 miles showing. Trans was done under warranty at about 29k. Replaced 6 injectors at about 50k ( 3 leaking down causing hard starting). Has about 60k on it now, comfortable car to drive, good power, reasonable fuel economy. Trans does shift kind of funny at times but shop says "normal". Good luck with it.
Re: I feel for ya man! Have her test drive a Bonneville SSEi. Those cars are absolutely LOADED with every feature there is (seems like it anyways)!! Plus, with the SC3800 Series II - you can't go wrong!! The Series II 3800's are practically bulletproof!! I've had my SC Riv for almost 3 years now...can't imagine picking a Taurus over that for ANY reason!!ou:
Ouch I feel your pain Chris, but I gotta tell ya, my wife drives a Ford PowerStroke Diesel Crewcab. She told me it would make a great tow vehicle for our Buicks...:Brow: GOD, I love that woman:TU:
I think in the signifigant other category, I've found a keeper. The g/f wants 2 vehicles - a 1968 GTO and a Chevy Silverado.
Good luck.. I had a 1996 Sable Gs. It was a great car for long trips. Very comfy. No power though. Also had mechanical problems. Biggest problem was the tranny. Went out at about 58k. Had it rebuilt to the tune of $2500, still never shifted right. I've heard the same story from others. Good luck. They sure are comfy and quiet though.. James
im actually a big fan of the honda accords. you can keep the civics and preludes, but the accord is a nice, well-put-together car. I have one that hasnt given me hardly any problems. it wouldnt start cold a while ago. it took me a while to figure out that the plugs and wires needed to be changed. its got 217k on it, and ive put 22k on it. ________ Medical Marijuana Dnc
