Brake adjuster hole covers. Probably for the '69 resto that was just completed. I remember them on various GM cars back in the day.
Always remember them being black, which I have, reason why I did not butt in,maybe they are just for 68-69 cars?Bruno.
I will take them in either the black or red/orange. I figured I would ask for the red ones as I already had one. If you guys have 4 black ones that would work for me. I just refuse to use the generic solid aftermarket types. Duane
Duane, these have been re-pro'ed for a while. I believe you can still buy them from GM, too. TPP sells repros, and coincidentally joparts on ebay has a pair of "NOS" on ebay that have been bid on by a "private bidder" and look identical. You could probably send them to Steve (underdog350) and he could whittle them to fit in an hour or so. Guy just happens to own TPP, and everything he sells is "private" to protect "you" the bidder. lol Most Corvette catalogs have them. Like Brian, I have a box of them kicking around here some place. I'm not really sure what years they were used on, definitely not as many years as the repro sellers are saying. It's one of those things they say like 64-84 or something, that's crazy talk.
Thanks Bruno. Frank, I know they are re-pro'ed but I was hoping to find a few nice originals for the car.......and yes I don't believe the range of years they are talking about either. I would question if they were ever used on the 71-72 8.5 Corporate rears on the Buicks. I had a 71 350 GSX that I bought from the original owner, and the backing plates on the rear axle were never punched all the way out. The holes were punched into it as depressions and 3/4's or it was "free", but it was still attached at the top. You would have had to literally pry it up to "break it off to make the hole. (I remember doing that to my 67 Mustang back in the day to adjust the brakes. Those "holes" were punched into it the same way.) The 70-earlier rears were not corporate, so that would be another story. The problem is the rear axles were installed as a complete assembly, so they do not call out any of the parts on the drawings. My 69 car was built in Canada, so it was a GMAD plant and came with a 12 bolt Chevy rear axle. It had the Chevy style center rear snubber above the pumpkin, and did not come with the regular Buick BB style outer rear axle spacers with the snubbers. There are a lot of crazy/unusual parts on this car. Just trying to put some finishing touches on it. Duane
Yeah there are some crazy speed freak Canadian cars. Seems like GM Canada was willing to bend to please customers. Know of a documented 66 Acadian (Nova) with a 427. A friend knows of a one owner 427 67 Chevelle. And the 72 stage 2 test / drag car.
Brian, How much do you want for the opened bag of 6? That would give me a couple of extras. Thanks for looking for them. Duane
