Anybody out there ever tried using Rover aluminum valve covers on a 215 ? I picked up a set and started shining them up, but tonight I noticed that they only fit if the baffles are out and the little splash guard is removed from the 215 rocker shaft, seems to me if I tried running it that way, it would be constantly sucking oil through the PCV and the breather tube to the air cleaner, right ?
I have a set on my 340 (300 heads). Jim is still looking for subscribers for the aluminum 300 repops. Those will look much nicer.
Huh, I have a pair of 300 aluminum heads, they look the same as the 215’s but bigger valves and less head bolts. I’ve never used them because I didn’t want to give up any compression due to the bigger chambers.
Are you running aftermarket rocker shafts? Mine fit over the stock rockers just fine. I hope Jim gets enough people interested to have the repops cast. I sent him a pair of 300 tin ones for a pattern so they will look pretty authentic except he'll get them made a little taller for nicer rockers. I don't especially like the looks of the Rover valve covers, but they are aluminum and they are cheap. They fit good and aren't hard to seal. But they don't go with the car at all. Jim
I did. Had no trouble with it at all. There may be some differences in the rocker assemblies. That angular look could go with the early Falcon it's kinda angular as I recall. Jim
