Lucas, If you make it down to South Florida an invite is extended. Funny story... After we got rid of the POS Pontiac Fiero we bought a 71 Cadillac for 200 dollars. That was our main driver for many, many years. What an awesome cruiser!!!
Joe, Lucas, and others... When you get a chance go to my thread 2nd Annual South Florida Buick Get Together. Save the reading and go to Pg. 5 for party pictures. We had a BLAST!!! My arm was sooooo sore by the end of the day I put my stupid immobilizer back on. To much moving stuff around and I think D.A. people giving me a good 'ole slap on the left shoulder. OUCH!!! My arm feels better today, but it is stiff! Therapy at 3 PM. More ouch!!!
Yes sir...after a good workout arm gets sore as heck. The worst is when someone grabs your hand for a crazy I haven't seen you in a year hand shake and pulls you towards them for a man bro hug.
Ouch Joe!!! You made me cringe! I KNOW what you are talking about. I never realized how "manly" a manly handshake, or hug, could be until I got injured. I don't remember friends being so friendly? It sucks being injured, and liked. LMAO!!! I switched all my appointments to 3 o'clock and it works out GREAT. I bust azz all day around the house and then I go to therapy and they bust me more. Then I go straight to Happy Hour at my buddy's garage. (I know you said you "don't like the pills", but I got my doctor to give me a script for 12 percocets. One for each day of therapy for the next month. They help a lot with the "muscle contractions" after therapy. I do know when they quit. About 5 to 6 hours after I take it. By then I'm kinda buzzed and I should go to bed, but I'm playing on this Buick website.) Tell me more about what your therapist does to you. Did you get the "Fat Latina girl?" First I get a scar massage. In my opinion that is almost not needed. Then she stretches my arm in all the places it ought to go, but I don't put it there. I say ouch. She says don't be a baby. Then the dumb bell with 2 lbs. of weight. It was 1.5 lbs. on Friday. Laying on the bed, lift it from my waist to over my head position and back behind my head. I go up good in both directions. I have NO strength laying on my back with my arm straight up. Next is wrestling. I LOVE wrestling!!! Bri, yes I call her Bri now, holds my arm in different positions and I "wrestle" against her trying to move my arm different places. Motivation??? Oh hell ya. One day I'm going to flip her on top of me whiling I'm laying in bed face up and they'll release me from therapy! Next are "wall slides." Put a towel on your hand and slide my hand up and down a wall 20 times. I can do it now with NO help with my right hand. Yay!!! Then do it sideways. I'm not to good at that. Then pulling the bungee cords behind my back and in a downwards motion. Ouch! Recently she's having me do what I call the "door frame stretch." Put both hands on the door frame at about 45 degrees from your legs and try to walk into the room. I think I KNOW what they are planning on doing. These "door frame stretches" are to stretch my shoulder muscles so my arm will go behind my back. My arm DOES NOT like going behind my back!!! I think... after awhile you can figure out what's going to be next. More pain!!! > Going to bed now...... John
John They make me do a bunch of bungee type of pulling back sideways down u name it. They have a pedal machine like a bike but using my hands. Thursday I'm supposed to step it up a notch so we will see. Mostly lots of stretch's I can't put my hand behind my back at all No way.. the big Latina said that's the last thing they work on..
Joe sent me some insider video of where he's going for PT.....I don't think there's a version of "Bri" there..........at least not like we'd hope for.........
Dear Joe, I don't know what I'm going to write tonight. I'm really confused. I had the best day in the world until I went to therapy. I'll end with that because we had a blast!!! So I was at therapy. Briana had just finished massaging my shoulder and my scar. She's got me doing my exercises on the bed. Then in walks the office manager. He very kindly explained to me my crappy ass insurance only covers 20 therapy visits. Today was probably #24 or 25. They apologized and said it was their fault that they didn't keep up with the paperwork. That didn't upset me. They "ate" at least 4 visits for dam near free. (20 dollar co payment) I'm mad that piece of **** UNITED HEALTH CARE only gives 20 therapy visits!!!!! The manager said they called United Health Care repeatedly and told them I had surgery, and my arm was not even close to normal. No go. Therapy is over. Wow! So many things come to my mind. I could have tried harder. I could have done more exercises at home. Truthfully, I could be a week or two further along. Lazy me, or busy me. But the fact is, my arm is not even close to normal. Bri was soooo cool. She printed out the next months exercises. I said, "And then what?" She said, "I can't give you more because I don't know how you are progressing." Nice dead end. On the bright side, is there a bright side, they said I could come to therapy for $80 a visit. I said, "I'll be back in a few weeks." Wow!!! Where to go from here. I think my only choice is to move forward!!!!! I'm going to Virginia for Spring break. (Oh yeah, a lot of hot chicks in bikinis up there.) It will be cold in the mornings. At least freezing. (Go ahead and make fun of me Lucas. > ) So I can do exercises for hours each morning. That should get me somewhere. I guess I'll go from there. Before therapy.... This morning my son, my grandson, and I met up with our 2 nephews for a boating trip up the Loxahatchee River all the way to Trapper Nelson's homestead. If you are bored... look up Jonathan Dickinson State Park. One of the truly still very native South Florida places!!!! It was a great morning and early afternoon. That's it for me. I am spent!!!!!! Dang John that's a bummer. Hopefully it works out we're they give you more visits. Well today I went back to my high school after a bunch of years 1995 and walked around crazy feeling. Tomorrow is therapy so will see how it goes. Right now at a local little sandwich shop that servers beer and I'm a bit buzzed but I got my oldest daughter so she is driving. Also she just told me she has decided on a college that she has been accepted to. So I'm sad and glad at the same time. See ya tomorrow

Hey Joe, I found a new therapist. This guy is awesome! He lets me take breaks in between my exercises. He doesn't care if I drink beer while I'm doing my exercises. And I'm allowed to take a cigarette break whenever I want. This new therapists name is me. Me is an awesome guy. He lets me have a couple cups of coffee in the morning before I start my exercises. He's got this woman assistant. Her name is wife. She helps me do the patients stretches and assists in holding my arm straight in the air when I do my exercises. Today I had another first. I have to lay on my back with my arm at my side. I was able to raise my arm straight up and continue going all the way to the ground behind my head. Today was the first day I was able to do that totally unassisted. I was very pleased! Things are going pretty good in Virginia. It's very cold in the morning. I write on my wife's windshield covered in frost. It's a South Florida thing. About the closest we ever got to snow. So life is good right now. Lucas, I am so very sorry to hear about your friends. It makes me so sad to hear about these tragedies and especially to know someone so close that it has affected. My prayers go out to you and all those hurt. Sincerely, John

I like your new therapist, he sounds like a helluva guy, and his assistant "Wife" is a great gal I am sure (plus I'm sure she's even prettier than Bri to you). If you don't know how to do this, write little footprints in her frosty windows and have the "kid" walk all over everything (the guy in this video is an amateur at best, but you get the jist).......Spring has sprung here, and even though there's still 20 feet of snow just 40 miles away in the mountains, town is dry, sunny, and 55 degrees are predicted all week, so time to get the Riviera out of the garage (the Mach 1 won't be out for a month, and the Cadillac is snowed in since it's technically stored outside). Hopefully be cruising it tomorrow! Glad you are doing well, sounds like since you've learned the basics from "real therapy" you can probably "wing it" to health . Your get together looked like a fantastic time, we will shake hands in person someday I am sure.......... Joe, hope your doing well, too. Well I pulled out the Impala yesterday from the back yard gave her a wash. Got in it this morning to take my daughter to school and afterwards head to therapy I get around the corner and the car doesn't want to move....shoot I'm low on trans fluid....call the wife she says I think something happened. So got towed back and had my own therapy under the Impala changing a trans cooler line. So now I'm sorry inside watching mecum from this past weekend.
To Joe and Lucas, Joe, I don't know how you fix your transmission line with one good arm, but way to go sir! I've tried working on my truck a couple times with my bum arm. It takes forever. Lucas, I tried the baby footprints in the roof of my wife's car. I even downloaded the pictures of yesterday and today from my phone. I am astonished that this old man could even do that! Hope you're feeling good Joe. Hope you get your cars dug out of the snow Lucas!

Joe, What year is your Impala? 67? Had a 68, white, but my pinstriping was composed of rust. Had it when I was dating my wife, used to have to fill the oil when I left my house to go see her and again before I left her house to come home...yours looks like it's quite a bit nicer than mine was, lol.
