    Howdy Joe and other followers!
I think I've reached the crossroads? Wednesday, after Brianna beat me up pretty good, she said, "Get a good nights sleep Thursday and eat your Wheeties Friday morning." "We are going to see what your arm will do and go from there." I think the light at the end of the tunnel just got a little brighter! Friday is also my first official day for NOT wearing "Hateful." I can honestly say, the only time I wear that hateful thing was to bed and during the day when my shoulder gets sore. I'll probably still wear it occasionally when my shoulder gets sore. It does put my shoulder in the "Ahhh" that feels better position.
The other day my youngest son screwed a pulley to the patio ceiling for more exercises. It works pretty good.
Do you remember the post early on where I apparently pissed on myself. I'll include a new picture. It must run in the family!

Good luck with it. I had my should torn up at work. Surgery was just over a year ago and I still have some problems when I use it to do work. Good luck.

I was doing my own exercises yesterday without the sling after a bunch of Stella's here at the hotel . House is getting treated for termites. I'm going home today.
I was lifting my arm on top of my head using the left arm to help out the right.
Yep it's painful and this morning after an ok night's rest it's sore.

    Dear Joe,
(Yes, I just took a half a percocet and quickly drank a beer when I got home. My left hand / arm is shaking laying on the keyboard.) The "crossroads" I traveled today flat out SUCKED! It wasn't what I thought it would be. I walked into the therapist's office feeling proud that my "hateful" sling was left at home.
Sidebar: I slept without the DA sling last night. Sorry to tell you it wasn't much better. Before my accident I always slept on my belly. I tried that last night. It hurt. Not bad, but I sure couldn't stay that way. Rolled over onto my back, put my shoulder and arm on their pillow, and went to sleep. So much for the old days.
I got my favorite torture queen, Brianna. We started out with the usual. Scar rubbing. It really doesn't hurt, but it is sensitive. Then she said, "Let's see what you can do." I wasn't expecting great things. She had me lay on my back with my left arm at my side. She asked me to raise my arm straight up, like a clock's hand. I made it to almost straight up. Maybe 40 degrees straight up. My arm was shaking! When I stopped trying my arm fell straight back down. So, a little muscle going up, but NO braking power going down. Next, grab my right shoulder with my left hand. I could do that. Whoopy!!! There wasn't to much else I could do. Dang, so sad. Then she had me do the usual exercise, put a cane in both hands, use my right arm to make my left arm rotate from at my side to above my head. Do that 20 times, and hold it above your head for 5 seconds. Next was the arm wrestling position. I HATE that one!!! I love this one... Secret therapist words. So I'm doing those stretches. She says, "You're not doing it right." She moves my elbow more perpendicular to my body and says, "There, isn't that better?" Secret code... that means, doesn't that hurt more!!! Next, I did the pulley thing. She said, "This time push up with your arm." It doesn't "push up!" Did 20 of them. My bicep works. I could probably lift myself with the pulley out of the chair, but that's not on my list of things to do unfortunately. Next, I got a new machine thing to use. The arm bicycle pedal machine. Apparently I can push and pull horizontally. I did that easily. Straight wall slides. After 20 my arm was shaking, and that's with my right arm pushing my left arm most of the way up. Then the wall slide sideways. I was spent!!! I cheated and probably just did 12 or 14, and said I did them. FINALLY, ice and electric shock. She gave me an extra 20 minutes on top of my hour appointment. Thank you Brianna. Just kidding.

On to better news!!! GSFred is going to slide by today. I ALWAYS enjoy hanging out with Fred! We'll be at Jack's garage watching NASCAR anything. Going to have a bonfire at my house tonight with my youngest son and his friends. (Yes, we live in a residential neighborhood.) One of his friends lived next door to Scott when he was in St. Augustine. His friend is a Coast Guard Captain who is down here with his crew protecting the President's Mar a Lago place. I guess he's off tonight and going to be able to hangout with us. Very cool! Sunday is a double header. A drive down to Ft. Lauderdale for a Buick meet. It's the turbo guys meet, but Gran Sports are always welcome. A lot of them will also come up to my get together March 9th. After that is the Daytona 500. Oh hell yes!!! We will have about 20 or more people over at Jack's garage for a party. Check this out.... Butcher Bob is going to be cooking iguana. WTF!!! I can't wait to try it! Other people will be bringing regular food. We all pick driver's from a hat and somebody will win some pretty good money. Hopefully me!!! That's about it from me. I'll send a couple of pictures so you can have a face to the names. I hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!!
Picture 1: Jack getting some of his birthday pizza for my grand kids. His neighbor, Dan, is on the side.
Picture 2: My sons and my grandson
Picture 3: My grand daughter driving the tractor, pulling the wagon, from my son's house to mine.
Except for this dumbass arm, my life is GREAT!!!!!!

    John,
That is the proper way to activate those.:) Was your surgery laparoscopic? I only had three 3/8" long cuts. Hard to even find them now.
Now,..... Would you recommend rotator cuff surgery?:D

Good morning Mart... Was my surgery laparoscopic? Oh hell no! They peeled me open like a can of sardines. I think my incision is at least 6 inches long. (Probably 7 inches long if I stretch my wrinkles. :)> ) They screwed a plate to the inside of my arm from my shoulder knuckle down to almost my elbow. Then they screwed all my tendons to the plate. I'll get a picture next time I'm at the doctors, Feb. 28th.
Would I recommend rotator cuff surgery? You'd have to ask Joe that question. My rotator cuff was fine. I'm just a dumbazz drunk that tripped over a garden hose and busted everything up.

Now that's a battle scar John DAM
You should get the tattoo of a zipper over the scar once it heals up.

Good morning Joe, and other broken people,
You said you got the yard cleaned up before the next rain storm. I thought you said you lived in southern California? Didn't the Mamas and the Papas sing about "it never rains in California."
Dang Joe, Your house and neighborhood look like you're just down the street from me! We must have pretty much the same climates. Palm trees every where and green grass in the winter. (Lucas, do you have any palm trees up there in the cold north? )
Termites... Ya, we had them too. What a blast. NOT!!!
I had a real good afternoon yesterday after the beers kicked in. GSFred showed up at Jack's garage. Then Jack and Kevin showed up with Milton's newly cleaned and blasted frame on a trailer. Then Milton showed up to check out his frame. It'll be painted today. Then Dan showed up. Then my son and grandson showed up. My grandson was riding his ATV around Jack's backyard. Then we went over my son's house, just down the street, and ordered wings and pizza. We had a real good party / bonfire till about 1:45 AM.
Saturday... My shoulder feels pretty good today. Not bad considering I fell out of a chair last night and fell on it. What!!! Shhh!!! Don't tell my wife, or my therapist. Luckily my arm was hurting before the fall and I had put my sling on. It protected my arm pretty good.
Lucas... I love your scar poster!!! My first post-op visit to the doctor, my doctor told me I could get some cream stuff at the pharmacy and it would make my scar almost invisible. I looked at him and said, "Why would I do that!" :)>
    Have a GREAT day guys!!!

    Dear Joe,
This is not really a Dear Joe letter. I just want to BEACH!!!! I know YachtsmanBill has read my thread on "The Penguins." Yes, they are here. (My in-laws) They got here 5 days after my surgery. In case you never read the thread on the "Penguins", let me tell you..... I need therapy!!! I don't mean Brianna. I mean
Xanax, Librium, Valium, anything!!! I can't take it any longer! Medical Marijuana won't fix this. Weed I got off of Briz back in the 80's doesn't even help. I wake up first thing in the morning and want to run away from my own house!!!!!!! Can you imagine first thing in the morning seeing this BEACH eating her toasted bagle in the recliner dropping crumbs EVERYWHERE!!!
She loves her own voice.... She does not shut up! I'm walking out to my sanctuary, the back porch. As I pass the crumb queen she says, "Today is Wednesday, January 16th." Jane, I don't care. Next time I walk through, "It's 19 degrees in Cincinnati." Jane, I don't care.
They have breakfast every morning and leave their coffee cups and cereal bowls on the counter next to the sink. Right on top of the dishwasher!!! The male penguin will make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, leaving the peanut butter, and his paper towel on the counter. I guess I should be happy he put the jelly back in the fridge!
Stupid... The first week they were here I take the blower to get all the leaves and sand they track into the porch, and blow it out. Would you believe that crazy beach got off of her crummy seat and "attempted" to open the french doors to see what I was doing. I slammed the door shut just missing her fingers. Bummer!!! She gave ME a dirty look. Really, you stupid beach, dust is flying everywhere and you are going to open the doors to the house!!! More stupid... I mowed the yard today. I'm mowing the grass by the top of the driveway, by the garage door, where she is sitting. Grass, dust, and sticks came flicking her way. She looked at me like I was rude. No, you dumb beach, I'm mowing the grass next to the garage!!!
Today's ringer.... I am getting ready to go to therapy today at 3 PM. She says, "Now don't come home and complain about your arm." You F ing beach!!!!! I NEVER complain about my arm!!! But every time I get home from therapy she says, "So...... how's your arm?" What!!! I NEVER talk about my arm, not even to my friends. 5 more days and her and my wife go on a week long cruise. I'm stuck with the male penguin. He doesn't make his own meals. I think he's going to starve! I think beer is a protein drink. :)> At least the crumb queen will be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a positive note... Went to sign in at the therapist's office. Would you believe good 'ole "good for nothing" hopped right up on the counter to sign in? Go lefty!!! I did really good on the wall slides. Serious! Put your good hand on the wall about level with your elbow. I have to push my left arm up with my right hand to about shoulder level, maybe higher, but then I can slide it up the wall and actually control it's slide back down. Whoa!!! Things are getting better!!! Sure wish I could truly drink a beer with you!!!!!!!! Thanks for allowing me to vent. 2 more weeks and they are GONE!!!!!!

So thats where the term "bird brain" comes from? Odd for you that the penguins like it warm for the winter, being fur lined and full of fat, I thought the liked cold year round. The advantage to ours (Pats kids, I dont have any) is that they all live south and hate the cold, however the gooses fly NORTH for the summer and leave giant goose turds wherever they go!
I guess they are territorial and come back to roost from whence they came. A few years ago, the gosling brought her new mate "for a few weeks" and lived in a pop up in our back yard for 4 months. As I was mowing the grass around the WAY OVERSTUFFED burn barrel (I constantly pointed out the trash cans were 20 feet away and go out weekly) there was a stick pointed out of said barrel with a 12" long Chicago Whitefish" hanging on the end. Maybe our penguins were letting it sun-dry for a snack. I dont know what youd use it for for bait around here except maybe a Carp or a Catfish. FWIW, after working in Chicago on the river and downstream from the big sewage plant, there was always a run of "whitefish" floating by on Monday mornings. GADS! How Grotesque! Like the penguins, our geese are like rats with wings. Good Luck! If you see a flock flying overhead, run for cover! DO NOT LOOK UP ! ws

HOVER over the words highlighted in BLUE for further explanations. DO NOT DRINK anything while reading this stuff!... editor

Hey John (waterboy), glad you are "walking the wall. I shudder thinking of shoulder surgery. I had surgery on my right arm and unfortunately scar tissue over took the surgery site. They had to go in and re-operate. I started P.T (for the 2nd time) the day after the 2nd surgery. About a week into it I felt and hear a snap. Never saw that therapist again. Much later I found out that this dear sweet therapist had popped a disc. Directly above the plate in my neck. No one will touch me. I have suffered every day since. Yachtsmanbill does most of the vacuuming in the house as that kills me. Be very thankful the surgery worked the 1st time. I will never have full range of motion and will have pain in my neck for the rest of my life.

I hope and pray you continue to get better and heal completely. And please continue to entertain the guys...ppat
