Will it work with double gaskets?? Getting ready for the ported 70 Stage 1 head swap and wanted to use the stock chrome valve covers. Wanted to make sure first. I also have a new set of stamped steel rockers I could use. Mostly a streetable car.

You will be better off with the TA thick gaskets in 1/4 or even the 3/8, the cork is tighter and doesn't weep vs the garbage fel pros

I have metal spacer plates that JW donated when he built my engine. Cork gasket on each side. They work great as long as you silicone everything together, but if you have to remove a valve cover, it isn’t coming off easy.:D I have to remove all the bolts, and smack the covers with a rubber mallet to get them off. Then you need new gaskets. I might try the 3/8” gaskets next time.:)

I was under the assumption that if you glued 2 cork gaskets together you would be ok. It's not that I need rockers as my camas not huge but I have them and thought I'd use them..

    Pat,
Nick used the TA thick gaskets on my 69 car with the roller rockers and stock chrome valve covers. He said it was basically the thickness of 2 gaskets, but if you glued them together he said they had a tendency to leak.

If you do glue them together, use gorilla snot (weather strip adhesive) That worked for me.:)

Gorilla snot works for everything (almost). Make sure you get the 3m brand "Super weatherstrip adhesive". Don't get any on your fingers, or you will find out where the 'gorilla snot' moniker came from.

Lay a very small bead on one gasket, stick the other on to it for a couple seconds, and peel it off. Wait 10 more seconds and "Carefully" lay it back on. Make sure you lay it on exActy, because once you do, they ain't ever coming apart.

I cant do anything exactly right once......much less twice......and I'm sure I would glue all 10 of my fingers together......hince why the thick ones for 36 bucks is my choice.........not to mention by the time you buy 2 thin sets plus the glue.....got to be close to same price
