Awesome!!!! When I hit the lottery I will be chasing the dream of the fastest Buick on the planet! Keep up the good work.
I think it's time to open up a Buick foundery. Who's with me. I will work there with pride.

.003 on the mains, .0027 on the rods(+/- a couple) and yes on the FM bearings. I'll look into the smaller restrictors and looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on some of Steve's Valve covers. I'm happy with being a guinea pig on this engine and appreciate feed back. I started out with too little oil pressure then put a KB Booster Plate and had too much pressure. It was due to having an early TA Timing Chain cover which didn't have the bypass holes. Wound up drilling a 1/4 hole in the booster plate to by pass to the suction side and problem solved. These are stock oil pump gears also so a few more turns on the adjustable by pass spring and it should be more in the comfort zone.

I use one those KB booster plates and when I installed it I had to drill a hole in the pocket. I would like to get a couple of the KB kits with instructions if anyone knows how to get one. I have 100 lbs at 5000 RPM's At launch and about 70 across the line at 6500 RPM's. 5w30 Mobil 1. I have around 30 LBS at idle.

i know you said you didnt want to get into one but what do you think the gains would have been wth a dry sump Bruce?

Very Little Gains. I have some Friends that run Hot Street N/A Deal they have been back and forth Dry Sump wet the extra 10% they have to weigh so 40 pounds not worth alot to them. My Buddy 388 SBC makes 2.5 HP for every inch so 970 HP. that is with a wetsump.

We have along way to go the Buick Engines 542 making 1.76 HP for every inch very Nice work.

Ok guys I installed the KB booster plate and I'm building a 14 to 1 .038 over 76 455 engine with girdle and fully grooved main bearings. 6 qt oil pan, the only change was compression from 11 to 1 to 14 to 1. I have 100 lbs oil pressure at 5000 RPM at launch. At idle 30 lbs. I have never had a rod bearing problem with stock rods running 6500 RPMS. I was told from a good source that you need more cushion at that compression. I know we aren't talking Chevy but those guys say don't go high volume. I run .002 on rods and mains. When I ran a high volume Buick pump I sucked the pan dry and destroyed the crank. If I spend this much money in a 14 to 1 engine I don't want to overkill it in oil delivery. Please tell me your problems with 14 to 1 compression from the oiling system.
