Hi guys, I was hoping you could answer a question for me. After about a year I'm finally getting back around to the Riv. I had to find a replacement engine for it, however the heads on the new engine had been ported too much causing the castings to fail. I'm going to swap my old heads on but I noticed that there were spacers under the rocker stands between the base and the head. Is this a factory part? Thanks

Anyway you could post a picture of the spacers? Also what part of the head did they go to deep on?

They're just tabs that go between each rocker stand and the mounting pad on the head. They fit over the dowel and have hole for the rocker mounting bolt to go through.

As for the old heads, it looks like someone tried to do some work to open up the chambers around the valves and the water jacket failed leaving a hole. This is just speculation based upon my comparison to the stock heads I have, and the lack of any other damage to the engine

Those spacers/tabs are NOT original. Probably installed because TOO much was taken from the deck or the heads to make up for not buying the correct length pushrods.
