sorry but those three pics are not a 68-69 mirror for buick GS or Skylark. The base is not squared on the correct mirror its more like an elongated teardrop.my spare left side is stamped1383841 and is clearly marked LH. Ithink correct # for right is 1383842 and is clearly marked RH.

    I'll settle it. :)

This is a driver side 1969 mirror.

The right side mirror is just molded opposite this one.

NEW1966 That is one of the 67 and earlier ball and socket mirrors. There was no right and left. You just spun the mirror around for either side of the car.

I'm pretty sure they were on all of GM's A-Bodies of the period.

There is an accessories section in the master parts manual for that period. What do you need?

Accessories Section of Buick Parts Book

The Accessories Section of Buick Parts Book is a partial list of Accessories. It isn't ever a complete list. The 40's & 50's Parts Books had a much wider selection than the 60's & 70's Books. All I need to know is what is the year or years of this Mirror based upon the Part # I provided in my last post.
I was told when I bought it that it was for all 68-69 GS. Obviously he lied. Now I would like to know what this mirror fits based upon the Accessories Part #. I looked in ALL of my Parts Books(in the Accessories Section) and was not able to identify the mirror! Greg...NEW1966 Accessories Part # 981921. 10.185 Group #

I have what I believe to be a correct RH mirror for a 69 GS # 1383840 and marked with an RH. That number is off the base and not the mirror. I also believe this is the mirror that originally came on the car (mirror not for sale). Can take a pic later if needed.

Get the Parts Man on the Board to look it up. I suspect it may not be a Buick mirror.

That is not correct - the '68/69 right side mirror is NOT remotely actuated and is MUCH thinner because there is no chrome "surround" to protect the bare glaass as it moves like in the remote left side.

The base has the same basic design but the angle is opposite, and the "arm" running from the base to the mirror is has the same concave ridge running up its back but the acutal mirror piece is totally different but the same basic shape

All 68/69 Buick cars used the same right side mirror - one piece only for ALL CARS - No remote right-side option

I can take detailed pictures tonight and also look it up in my 1969 Buick Parts book

Here's the only pic I can find at this time of mine

Only the drivers side remote mirror was the "glass moves inside the housing" type.

The manual and the passenger side is of the ball and socket type.

There is also a seperate mounting bracket and a base gasket to complete the assembly

the '68/69 right side mirror is NOT remotely actuated

I know that for cryin' out loud!!

I was just showing the board what it looked like. It's not a Ball and Socket mirror. It was molded with the mirror movement inside the chrome shroud. I had a 69 skylark with dual sport mirrors and the right side was inside the shroud. :Smarty:

If you are saying that the PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR for 68/69 is in a shroud - then I respectfully Disagree. There is no shroud.

    Also

There were no "sport" mirrors available for '68/69

What exactly are you saying you had ??

Im not trying to piss you off.....just share information.

I too had a 69 with Sport Mirrors....until I removed them for the correct ones

I'm not pissed off. I was being sarcastic.. :pp

But I know they made the shrouded right side mirror as evidenced in this pic.

Can't be sure that car has the correct mirror on it though..

I can't remember ever seeing a shrouded mirror on the right side of these cars before (not even on the 70's), unless of course it has sport mirrors.

Like I said.. I had a 69 Skylark with a shrouded rightside mirror that matched the left side. I remember it distinctly because the mirror was loose inside the shroud and I had to constantly risk life and limb by leaning over, rolling down the window and adjusting it.

Maybe it wasn't factory installed? I have no idea. But I know they matched and looked like the one that's on my GS now.

I like that !! Its pretty far fetched but perfectly plausable.......

by that logic then '69 N25 bumpers exist too

Im not saying you didn't have one - but I've never seen one or heard of one in my 25 years of being around 68/69's

Buick Doctor that is an excellent thought about the Australian Buicks, never thought about that. I cant imagine shifting left handed and doing everything backwards in the drivers seat.

now if GrittyKitty passenger mirror would have been a remote type......

The mirrior on the Silver 69 GS in the pic (great color by the way) looks a bit strange the way it is sitting but it is very difficult to tell in the pic.

I still want an N25 68/69 bumper like in the parts book pic.
