I'm switching out the oil pick up on my 430 and I want to know can I use my old gasket on the new tube?

Considering there is no pressure, it would not be a problem from that standpoint.

However, if it fails and you start sucking wind, your motor is gonna be more unhappy than mamma when you fail to remember your anniversary.

Get some gasket material and make one. An x-acto is yer friend, and you'll have leftover for that time you need a gasket and everything is closed.

I'm going to post some gasket making material I have to see if it cuts the bill, they are of the liquid type. I have old hospital scalpels.

I would just make one out of gasket material. Either that, or go down to your nearest GM dealer and get one for a GM 3800 V6

Thanks Larry. What else might interchange with the 3800, curious

I think they are all very similar. Any GM parts counter guy should be able to help.

    Why?
    Make or buy new.
Buick motors have enough oiling problems the last thing you wanna do is suck air into the system because your cheap or lazy.Just my opion.

I admit I've reused them with a little good quality sealer....

Been there done that ...with no problems and some nicely spread out RTV.

More importantly I just bought a Fel-Pro TCS45002 timing cover set and it included the oil pickup gasket. I'm not sure when they started doing that but that gasket set is usually available anywhere and fairly cheap from Summit or Rock Auto. It is funny they don't include one of the pickup gaskets with an oil pan set.

yeah it's probably $1.00 gasket and $6.99 shipping! just guessing, go buy gasket material and be done with it. FYI A tiny little hammer works great for forming a gasket, then use scissors if you don't have an exacto knife.
