I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to get the speedometer out of my 72 Electra. I got the top dash out and all, couldnt get the light switch and the AC unit out. Any guidance will greatly help!!!! PLEASSSSEEE.....
from 1971 I'm pretty sure you don't need to take out the left side where the light switch is. Recalling from 1971, and I think they're about the same dash... Take a look here at around page 120-68 and you should find what you need.
There are 2 screws on the inside upper portion of the speedo bezel...phillips heads. Unscrew those and pull out the bezel. You will then see 3 or 4 1/4 inch hex screws holding in the speedometer. You must also unclip the gear selector cable. The whole thing just pulls right out.
Adam, you may very well be correct, I was thinking more of Ferd and Moopar, although, seems to me my old 78 Chev truck required 1/2 turn o No: I just checked a couple of dash clusters in my basement, I'm wrong :spank: It's held in by a spring loaded clip, just push it towards the back of the speedo, and pull the cable out.
Pat: Thanks a lot! This really helps and solves a lot of my problem... I could have never figured out the way the speedometer comes out Thanks a TRUNK LOAD... The manual link is great and answers a lot of my questions...
Adam and Tom: Thanks for the helpful hints. Its kind of cold in Philly today .... I will be all on it as soon as I get a SUNNY DAY,... Thanks again guys!
