I was going to say that you are going to go to hell, but you have seen the light brother!! A Chevy better looking then a nailhead? What were you smoking? Wanna share? I replaced a Chevy (Woops - GM says that I have to say Chevrolet) with a 425 nailhead! Better then the bowtie V8 in every respect.

Once you get the bugs out of it, you will be glad you did. I have my 425 Cat since 79 and have never had any problems with her. Except waterpump, carb and an oil leak or two. Never had the heads off.:spank: Knock on Wood for saying that. Just keep it serviced

But my 77 GMC with 350 has been sitting for 5 yrs and I start it up and warm it up every month or two. and its a good engine also

Well, if it gives anyone hope, I worked on the 455 all day yesterday. Hoping to get it in this fall :) Time for the Chevy to go back into a Chevy, maybe a `65 Nova that my wife would like to have someday. One of the funniest things that has happened was at the dragstrip one day. While taking a break from making passes at test and tune, I had just stopped and opened the hood to let it cool down and three guys came over to look, and two of them were there running small block Chevys. While they were standing there looking directly at my engine one of them said "We've been watching you run and figured you must have some kind of a big block in there. I had no idea a Buick 350 would run like that". I replied "I have no idea if a Buick 350 would run like that, either".

All kidding aside Bill, that is a beautiful engine compartment. Fantastic craftsmanship.

Thanks. I even won 'Best engine' at a local car show this spring. I wonder if they noticed it wasn't a Buick engine?

Taank, I did that back in the 60's,,,,,, and it seems like the long nose starter had a longer shaft on the armature.... and I had to change the armature out... dang, its been a lot of years....might have to change out the armature too....:Dou: :Dou:
