Thank you for the kind words, Ronnie!

When I was a kid, (4-6) I lived in a place called "Dogpatch". (Wichita Kansas)
It's next to Beech Aircraft Co, and about as dirt poor a place as there is.

My grandmother and grandfather lived next to a couple (Homer and Irene) that had a "junk yard" with old cars, and he did work on peoples cars, and all sorts of things.

They had twins; Ronald and Donald. R&D were a bit slow, but just good friends to hang around.

(If you have seen "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" they were "Hogwallops", and I mean that in the literal sense. :) )

My cousin lived on the other side of them, so two away from my grandparents.

We all played in and on the cars, took things apart, put things together (nothing worked, but we made some really neat looking stuff), and once time I crawled in a trunk of a Pontiac Chieftain to get the hood ornament that I saw in there and Donald closed the trunk and they ran off. I pounded and yelled for a bit, and then Irene heard me and told Homer. They came out and he popped the trunk open and said; "Look, there's a monkey in here!"

I have been called various " _______ monkey" names. (I had those big, sticking out ears, but I grew into them)

So, all the years later, when I saw the commercial, that reminded me of it. Seemed like a good name to me. :D

Michael, I worked at Beech Aircraft / Raytheon Aircraft / Hawker Beechcraft / Beechcraft and still work for Textron Aviation. That area north of Central still exists in that form to the present day. I’ll even bet that the Pontiac you got stuck in is still around there somewhere. Some things never change...

    LOL

I have been back there. Went to Dogpatch. My grandparents house is gone, as is Homer and Irene's place.

My grandmother's cedar trees are still there. They moved Central and the house I lived in is a parking lot.

Most of the folks on my mom's side all worked the aircraft plants. Mostly Boeing, but also Cessna and Beech.

But the rest of Dogpatch is still the same. Same houses and such. Like taking a ride in the Professor's Delorean.

Funny, my little brother (almost 15 years difference) lives on East 1st about a mile on the other side of Beech.

He had no idea. ( left home and joined the USAF when he was a year and a half old and the he and my mother and step father moved to Baltimore. He moved back to Wichita in the 90s.

He works and races at KID.
