Noticed at the Nats this year , that there was no Regal Modified Class running this year . Wanted to know who all was / is building or has built one for the RM. Would like know if there will be some RM cars there next year? I really dug the class and the rides that have shown up over the past years. I actually built my Regal for that class, never turned a tire on the Bowling Green track with it. But would love to against other 7.5 liter Regals. The ones I've seen .... wow.. you guys did them justice!! Rightous rides!! Got any new ones being built? Ones being refurbished? Pics? Specs?
I have no idea what that class is about. But I'd love to have ya there at muncie for my first outing next summer.
R4E5G5L Awesome to hear theres another 455 Buick powered Regal in the area, where is Huntington at in IN? I have to get a few things squared away with my Regal before I go racing , but yes would like to square up against you at Muncie. The GS Nats in Bowling Green has had what they call a Regal Modified Drag Race Class... Where your Regal is powered buy any V8 Buick engine, like 350, 430, 455, Nailhead, etc. SBC's BBC's or LSX's are a No-No :error: Listed below are the rules for the class. Regal Modified - RM1.No qualifying ET. 2.Car must be 1978-87 Buick Regal, any body style: 2-door, 4-door and wagons. 3.RM will be run bracket-style. 4.No tube-framed, full-tubbed, or back-halved cars cars permitted. 5.Car must have full factory frame; outer frame notching, mini-tubbing, ok. 6.Fiberglass bumpers, hood scoops, hoods, etc ok. 7.Car MUST run a Buick V8 engine; 350, 430, 455, Nailhead, etc ok. 8.Car should have full safety gear for ET/speeds attained. 9.Car should be in good cosmetic appearance; lets go 'Fast with Class'! I'm the Vice Director of the Indiana Chapter of the Buick GSCA... would like to extend an offer to join us and hang with other like minded Buick Gearheads. Hope to see ya at the X-mas Tree
If you guys line up at 41 next year please be sure to PM me. Id be more than willing to try to get mine out there for a run or two + it would be nice to meet you guys in person. Its only about 1 - 1 1/2 hr drive - getting it there would be the biggest problem. Id need a heads up so I could try to locate a trailer to bring it on.
Thanks for the info Chris. It appears that I DO qualify for that class! I'm 50 minutes north (and a little west) of the strip. Regal81455, US 41 is a couple hours + from me. Are there any Buick events held there?
Chris. They had RM class but I don't think anyone ran it.All the V8 Regals I saw ran Q16 or Bracket 1. I built the 85 in 2001 for the street & RM class.Class has died out over last few years. I've bracket raced this car a lot the in last 10 years. It's fun to see the faces at other tracks when you open the hood & they say "Damn it's got a Buick motor". Best pass in BG was a 10.98. .
Almost positive our brethren from the v6 forum frequent there atleast twice a year. So I would say yes - it maynot be really "organized" but it does happen. Muncie is about 4hrs away for me which would make it almost un-feasible so if you guys wanna get together next year and we could all agree on 41 on would be very interested and would do my very best to make it out.
I have missed the last few bg events . But when I was going I started switching over to quick 16 when I could squeeze in. There were no payouts or much but a hand shake from what I was told. If there was incentives to get in more would. I have seen a few guys selling there cars lately. I remember only 8 cars max I have ever seen run this class. It would be great to see a few fast BBB Regals at a event. I'll be back next yr with my car maybe there will be more.
Bigdawg70 Same here, gotta get my Regal issues worked out, but gotta wait till I get my shoulder fixed first, just found out yesterday from me dislocating my right shoulder a month go and dealing with the pain that long, I was told I have torn Rotator Cuff , and another torn tendon up in the lower front of the shoulder that will require.... surgery. To all those responded, I do hope you can get yours to Bowling Green and show force of the 7.5 Liter BBB Regals!!
