    Hey there gang

my first post on this site

I am finally going to have my 425 rebuilt ('64 riv). It seems like there are a lot of places where I can get rebuild kits and parts, like Poston, TA perf, Kanter, Classic Buicks, etc.

I want to know if there's any difference in the parts these different places are selling, other than price. It seems like there are so few manufacturers of parts for the nailhead now that the pistons, bearings, cams, valvetrain, etc would all be from the same source.

    any advice you can offer?

    thanks a lot,
    Jeff

Hi Jeff, hate to see your post sit here unanswered for so long, so I'll give it a shot. I've bought stuff for my 64 Riv from Clarks Corvair, CARS, and Poston, but so far its been interior resto stuff for the most part, and a few gaskets and a little bit of suspension odds and ends. Bought quite a bit of engine stuff for the 70 GS, but it has the later big block design. The parts seem to be about the same brands you can get locally at NAPA or PartsPlus, and a lot of it seems similar in price. What I've found is the local stores don't stock old Buick engine parts anyway, so its a special order no matter whether I go to NAPA or call TA Performance or Poston Enterprises. Of course speed equipment is TA or Poston exclusively. So my philosophy is buy the common stuff from Buick specialty vendors, so they'll be there with the goodies and toys when you want them.
