    Hopefully, I will start re-assembling my car over the summer. Can anybody recommend a good rear speaker to install? Or do I just put a standard 6 X 9. I also am going to need a new front one under the dash. I took mine out over the winter, it was dryrotted with gooey black adhesive on the top.

    I replaced my front speaker with a dual 3x3 (?) speaker setup that was posted here about a year ago. Works pretty good. I believe that black goo on the speaker is what's left of the original rubber seal. I bought some good rubber hose, slit it and slid it over the top rail of the speaker frame to make a new gasket.

    I'll try and find the link for making that front speaker and post it here. Can't recommend anything for the back. I didn't know you could even put one in the back!

    And here's the post on how to make the new front speaker:

    Good luck.

    Phil;

    Thanks for the response. I was looking for a simple replacement of the front speaker. The rear speaker is similar; maybe I should just by a set of 6 x 9's and put them in. I am going with a stock AM/FM radio, so sound (quality) is not that important.

    Thanks.
