http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/bop-455-rear-seal-install-step-by-step.301130/ Jim Weise recommended grinding the seal journal undersized to match the design diameter of the seal. In the case of a BBB crank this removes the hash marks. At the moment I do not have the diameter spec for the SBB engines although I will need that for the 300 shortly and expect to get it when I order new rear seals from TA. Following Jim's procedures should give reliability. He's been doing this for awhile with consistent results. I particularly liked the part of his instructions about making sure the seal doesn't deform when clamped down. As I recall the new seals now available should not require end trimming but that's a good check to do anyway. Jim
