Rear end ID

    Saw a rear end housing no gears with this ID #

    AE B 215 1

    Can anyone tell me if it is an 8.5 or 8.2.

    Best to post the casting number on the center section of the rear, that will tell a lot.

    AE ID code....
    Most commonly a '73 bolt-in axle 8.5 3.23 geared pegleg A-body rear. The spread on the upper perchs is wider on the '73-77's & the shock perchs are different, so '73-77's will not fit under '64-72's.
