I posted my need for a rear bumper for my 66 Special wagon in the Parts Wanted Section and didn't get any responses, so I am posting my need here. Does anybody happen to know where I might find a decent rear bumper? Desert Valley Auto in Phoenix wants $290.00 for a core plus $125.00 for brackets. I figure shipping and chroming will run about $300.00. Bumper Boyz wants about $490.00 without brackets, but I've read several questionable reviews of their quality.

Done. Thanks for passing that information on, Dave. Work has kept me off the board, and I doubt I would have viewed that thread.:TU:

Cancel the alert for a bumper; I picked one up on Thursday. The best part was I had several to pick from.

  5. Hello, I also need a rear bumper for my 66 station wagon. Where did you find yours? Do they have any straight rear bumpers? Your help is greatly appreciated!

PM sent. MY source didn't have any have any I would call straight, but several were good as cores.

    Did you have success?

  9. Sounded like the bumpers weren't straight so I never called. I already have a good core. I'm just hoping to find a nice bumper that's never been damaged before I pay the big bucks to have mine straightened. Maybe I'll get lucky at the next swap meet.

I want to be honest with you guys. My 66 wagon is actually an Oldsmobile. The 66 and 67 Buick and Olds A-body wagons share the same rear bumper. I also heard the factory remote mirror on my Olds is actually a Buick mirror. Should I post a picture of my 66 F-85 Deluxe station wagon? It's mostly original and in good condition.

  11. I bought my F-85 wagon last December. I found the original protecto plate in the glove box. Engine is a 330 with two barrel carb. AC, PS, PB, remote mirror, tilt wheel and electric rear window, also has a passenger side vanity mirror. I installed the rally wheels and a Flowmaster muffler.

  12. Hi Jim,

I looked through your privious posts and found a picture you posted of your 66 Buick Special wagon. I like it! I prefer the flat top wagons. I think they look sportier than the models with windows in the roof. Did you know flat top wagons have a shorter wheel base?

We have something in common. I also own a Chevelle SS. Mine's a 66.

Nice Olds wagon. You don't see to many 66 & 67 Olds wagons these days. You are just teasing us with the corner shot of the 66 Chevelle.

  14. Thanks for the compliment. I think the 66 and 67 Olds F-85 wagons are very rare these days. I've only seen one besides mine. It was for sale on ebay a few months ago. I've even looked in a popular Oldsmobile forum. None there. I did find a few 66 and 67 Vista Cruisers. They're very cool but I want to see some flat top F-85's.

I only have a few digital pictures of my Chevelle. I need to go out for a photo shoot. My 66 Chevelle was my very first car. I've had it since the early 80's.

Nice wagon and Chevelle. I can't remember the last time I saw a 66/67 Olds wagon on the road or at a show. Buicks of the same vintage are almost as rare. As for the wheelbase, I didn't learn until a month or so ago that the Sportwagons have a longer wheelbase.

My 66 Buick was/is my first car. My Chevelle would have been my second, but my parents wouldn't let me buy it. My brother-in-law bought it instead, and I bought it from him eight years later.
