I'd rather have the baseball card, which would then get sold to buy the LeMans. Yes, it would've been interesting had Buick built a nailhead powered 62 or 63 Skylark factory race car.

I once read that Honus Wagner was so against smoking, that he was successful in getting all but a handful of the tobacco cards recalled from sale. Thus, the survivors have greatly increased in value, since there's something like 5 or 6 left in existence.

  6. wheelz

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

FYI..I was told the high bidder is the infamous Jay Leno or at least his On-line bidder partner! Wheelz, Tampa Bay

It seemed like there may have been some title or ownership documentation issue to resolve regarding the storage lien and/or estate of the deceased prior owner ... I hope the whole thing worked out. For sure, there will be some stories soon in some musclecar magazines that will give more info.

One of the prior referenced articles about these Pontiac Tempest-based factory race cars explained that a group of Pontiac engineers worked during their 1963 Christmas vacation to get the whole group of race cars built just before the GM management edict of banning factory racing support was to come into effect in the new year. Very cool.

Too bad Buick didn't have something like the Pontiac done with the Skylark/Special body.[/QUOTE]

They did have some (out the back door parts/cars) not quite to this level though.

Very happy this car surfaced and the seller didn't get ripped off :beer

This morning i was watching the Kansas City Missouri local news and they had a spot on it, some chick ran a story on it and she was actually knowledgable, and knew what it was and had an intelligent conversation, the anchor dude said ..."its all rusty and stuff" in a feminine voice like a sissy, but the girl was smart and interesting...and she had big
ta-tas........when it hits the local news, its big i reckon, they pulled up the auction and everything, she knew who the owner was and called it "one of 6 Super duty Lemans factory backed race cars"... and she had big ta=tas...... nice ones at that..2 of em, one on each side....:kodak:

Unlike the car, I'd wager that those ta-tas weren't factory original.
