Radiator hoses for 455 in a '66 Skylark

    I transplanted a 455 into my '66 Lark and installed a four core aluminum radiator that was designed for that core support, and that has the hose necks in the same location as my '72 GS. Due to the different location of the motor however, I seem to be having a challenging time finding radiator hoses that will fit properly. If anyone has done this and has hose part numbers to pass along I would be very grateful.

    Pegasus Racing Products sells silicone reducers (get the right kind of hose clamps while your at it) and aluminum sleeves if you need to convert/adapt the hose ends.

    I had a local well hose stocked auto parts store that let we walk around there hose isles and I turned up a hose that would work for my needs by just cutting it shorter by 3 inches in its middle and the coupling it back together with the right size Exh union and 2 hose clamps!
    They also may have catalogs with pictures in there rear section along with dimensions and you might beable to order up a hose that will be a drop in!

    Order hoses for a 67 with a 340. Outlets are in same configuration as the 455.
    The 340 is just a lil shorter so u may have to trim them a smidge.
    When i I put an alum radiator in my 67 gs400 i had to use a 340 hose.
    Original gs400 radiators have odd upper outlet on radiator is why i needed a new hose.

    I used a NAPA 7349. I don't remember exactly which motor I sourced it from, but I think it was the v6 that was offered in the 66 Skylark. I used that one because the length of the hose at the radiator before it turns to the center was longer so it wouldn't interfere with the fan blades. I had to cut about 3 inches out of the long straight section(and used a radiator hose splice/repair) and had to trim the thermostat housing end, but I think it turned out rather well. This is on my 66 Skylark w/455. If you do this, trim a little at a time and check fitment. A little goes a long way.

    I tried the hose for the 300/340, but it sat up too high and I couldn't trim enough off of it to make it fit/look right and tuck down lower.

    I have a 455 in my 65. The same hoses that i used for the stock 300 with the cross flow radiator worked perfectly.

    455 in my 65 with a crossflow I'm runing 67GS hoses.

    I'm using a Goodyear #60674, trimmed to fit, fits pretty well in a 67 GS400 w/455 and Griffin Aluminum Radiator.

    So, for future reference, what did you end up doing? Pics, too, if it turned out well, lol.

    Might decide to do mine different in the future.

    Nothing yet, tried everything above except for the Goodyear one, but no luck. Don't want to splice, and would prefer not to use a flexible stainless hose. Going to try a NAPA and Oreilly HUB store to see if they will let me walk back and look through hoses. I'll certainly let you know if I find something that works.

    Okay, well after countless hours and trips to various auto supply stores, I still came up with no hoses that would fit. I think one place would have had something as their aisle was about 50 feet long with three rows high of hoses on each side, but the guy was a dick and just rushed me through instead of letting me look. That being said, I contacted a friend of one of my buddies who recommended using a stock 70-72 hose and just cutting it. When I first looked at that early on, it seemed like it would kink, so that's why I decided to look around. However, I grew some balls and figured I would only be out about $20 or so if it didn't work. All of that diatribe aside, I did cut it, and when I "stretch" and twist it right it seems to fit good enough that I won't really be worried. I will most likely buy some T-Bolt clamps for longevity purposes, but I think I'm good to go. And, if I did this right, there should be a picture attached that you can reference......

    By the way, I cut it at the radiator side...
