:jd: Just heard that Raceway Park in NJ is going to close. Supposedly sold to developers to construct more housing. If this is true lets hear about it. :blast: :blast: :blast:

    MeanBuicks Scaring the neighbors.

:Dou: Say it isn't so! I've been hearing that for years along with all the drivel from the local residents who are so inconvenienced by the sounds eminating from the track. They'll be jumping for joy I guess.

Well, here's to the folks who ultimately tear up the facility in the name of progess and all who rejoice it. :moonu: :spank: :moonu:

    Off topic:

Last week, I just had the odd experience of returning to my dad's old place in Colts Neck, NJ where I restored my GS in the barn. He had a neat, modern house w/ four car garage & workshop, tennis courts, a little pond and horse paddocks. He even made a runway for his ultralite plane. I lived there for a couple of years after high school.

The driveway was gravel, about 1/8th mile long off of a cul-de-sac. Now a very large home sits smack in the middle of what used to be the driveway. The enire 30-acre spread has been developed into a subdivision of veritable mansions. Gone are the paddocks, the pond, the courts and even the house.

The only recognizable feature on the property is that barn that I spent so much time in with my friends working on cars. The road through the subdivision is just inches from the side of the barn. It's being used as storage for the builders and is slated to be razed shortly too. :(

    Yep,
Just what this country needs more of...
Oversized, bland, cookie cutter, stapled together, treeless, housing developments.:af:

It happens all the time, Someone buys a house fully aware of what neighbors it.
Whether its an old farm, landfill, airport, or race track.
Then they complain to high heaven about the noise and smell. WAAAA WAAAA WAAAA. :ball:

I think I've used my allotment of commas on this one. :pp

no no no no no no. Just rumor. It has been flying around back in August and myself and John Csordas spoke to the Napp's who own the track just prior to our Buick Performance Weekend on Labor Day weekend. Just a rumor. Unless something just recently within a month came up, its not happening and quite frankly the way the management sounded the idea is not even in the mix. No doubt some of the home owners nearby would love to see it go. Some of those half whits bought a nice big home on a Monday believing the track will soon disappear....NOT! The track just makes too much money for Old Bridge Township. And the track is on the boarder of the next town which wants the track gone, but fortunately they have no control as the track is in the next town which wants it to stay. Back mid year we were told of a town meeting from the home owners that had an open forum to close the track (same people as tree huggers and save the whales extremes) It was a flop! Like an empty barrel very few showed up, yet a ton of the local merchants were there in full support of the track because it feeds the local economy with our racing dollars.

So don't worry it's here to stay, along with those lousy noise restrictions.
