As far as the drum brake part just one more reason to fool you that the car is not fast. Remember this is big boy money with big boy people. I know a local car that doesn't unload unless its 30k pot. Not worth the publicity of the pass. Also as far as someone buying it up it's too well known around here. Plus when scotty g moved from ny alot of Buick racers switched over. Well known fact for the people that dknt follow real cars. A well known no time grudge car just posted his slip from last year because he switched to radial vs the world for this year. 3.73 in the eighth on a 275 drag radial. Destroyed the record but never said anything because you don't reveal your hand. Must be hard when everyone talks smack and then you know your faster but cant say it. Us buick racers are nothing when you start talking grudge cars.
In the ny area that are alot of cars that runs 7 second passes with no roll bars the cars twist bad but they only need it for a year to make the money and then swap everything out to another car.
I know a guy in AL that his full time job is to keep 1 guys mustang running. the guy takes all over the south to these fue of street races makes a few passes and bring it back to AL for a full rebuild or swap out to best suit where ever the guy is going next race ........from the outside the car looks tame, but the business end looks business. I think he is running 3 kits with a 4th waiting. there is just no way to hide all that when you pop the hood. there is no doubt us 10 sec cars are minnows swimming in a big pound.
I may have found a possible Motion connection for this car. I was just looking at Duane's 69 Motion thread and he mentioned some vintage Motion pictures that had been posted in the thread a while back. I remembered that I had posted a picture that had a 67 in the background. Someone else remarked that it looked like something was written on the front fender of the 67 so I looked at a higher resolution photo and it appears that it could have "Bounty Hunter" on the fender. I had forgotten all about this until Duane made that post today. Check it out, could it be the same car? http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/69-motion-resto.334097/page-27
The races we saw we're in the tri-state area. They were racing half mile on an interstate. It was surreal. In VA I have 7second cars come out for brown bags of money. The most I ever won was $900 on a slick two lanes deer road playing possum with mustang guys on the juice
That's a very intriguing photo. I love these old racecars with all their history. Hopefully someone can provide mor info on this one.
There was a similar 67 that the brothers were running on the streets of the east end of LI in the 7os. Had a smoked plexiglass scoop over the carbs. Was supposedly the car to beat.....wonder if same car..... Ran at strip at Riverhead....
Went to Henry Ford Museum today with the guys and this old Ohio George's '33 Willy's Gasser was there. Pretty cool, I had a 1/24th scale model painted the same when I was a kid.
It looks like there is a 1968 Class winner sticker at the top of the driver side rear window. You can see it in the one pic. Duane
