Which way does the flexplate go on? Ring gear toward the back? I have it facing forward and now can't turn the converter to boltit up, seems like it's binding. Sorry old age , and suffering from CRS.

The flexplate should only go on one way if I'm not mistaken. Are you sure the converter is seated all the way in the trans?? There are several splines that need to line up. Sometimes you need to rotate the converter and push several times until it seats. Can be a pain at times. When fully seated the distance from the bellhousing mounting surface to the converter mounting pads should be 1 1/8" for the THM350, and 1 3/16" for the THM400

Yep, it was not fully seated. My son gave me a great tip that saved a lot of time,-he told me to put a 3 1/2" bolt in on either side of the engine/trans before I pulled it apart. Worked great, I was able to separate the engine from the trans without losing the alignment. Played with the torque converter and got it to drop in the rest of the way. woo hoo!! Done in fifteen minutes.
    Thanks Larry
