    Hello all,
I have a 1971 Skylark that had a 350 in it. The car does not have original battery cables, which I do not care about. I now put a 455 in it. The positive battery cable seems a bit short and is pretty beat up, so I would like to replace it. What length battery cable should I get from the parts store? Autozone says a 2 gauge 56" long. Is that correct?

I do like this one as it has a small wire terminal coming off I can use for my electric fuel pump. (installed electric fuel pump as a theft deterrent as auto thefts are crazy around here right now)

I took my battery cable off and it is about 60” 4 gauge. This was for the 350. It was very tight. I am thinking a 72” 2 gauge for my new 455. Sound right?

Just put a 65 long cable on my 72 suncoupe 455. It fit perfect

Is 4 gauge sufficient for a 455? The 2 gauge is super thick.

71 models first used type 1, for top mounts, and later, type 2, side mounts.

:)have to chuckle, could be wrong but don't think OP is restoring early/late '71 GS. Just wants good cable for his 455-powered Skylark. As for pigtail, depends on how pump wired...
