I noticed on the king main bearings the groove in the upper shell tapers before the parting line.
Is that done so the oil does not hemorrhage at the parting line of the bearing?
Sealed Power and others have the groove the full half of the shell.

    mark,
I bought mine on ebay. fed-mogl p/n 4418-20. just like the last set 5 yrs ago. we don't baby the engine and they didn't look too bad when I took them out.
i look at everything, but don't get paranoid about it. built right and good oil, it will last longer than the beating we give our engine.

I've got a set of Michigan's that 4 bearings are not full groove on the half shell, a set of Federal Mogul's that have only two bearing shells that way, and another set of TRW's that have two shell short groove, and another TRW''s that only have 1 bearing shell with the short groove.....go figure.
All the thrust's are full half groove on all sets.
