Well I've picked almost everything I need off my 64 special 2 door parts car. I do not have the title for this car. I called my local scrap yard thinking I could just deliver it, weigh my trailer on, then dump it and weigh it for $8 per 100 pounds cash, but they require titles.

So, I called a guy on Craigslist that may give me a few hundred for it, and pick it up at my house.

I haven't committed to anyone yet, figured I'd ask you guys if anyone knows of someone in SE PA who might be in the business that I could deal with? Maybe you're in the business? I figured instead of strangers maybe someone here could use the scrap? Let me know, thanks.

I'm not sure what the current value of scrap steel is near you or how close a place to drop it off is, when we parted out my '67 we cut it up with a sawzall loaded it in the back of my truck and took it to a local scrap/recycling center and just dumped it off after they weighed my truck. Made about $300 off all the scrap sheet metal and frame (not including time spent cutting it and gas driving back and forth).

i was going to say the same thing, at the point of being picked clean i have always just cut them up and took them to the recycling yard. i have one not far from work so i would load up my trailer and take it on my lunch break. dan

Without a title around here as long as it's in pieces all scrap places will take it. Not familar with PA.

Easy to cut them with a sawzall. Does take a little time.

It may be worth taking the $200 and no work involved.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I think I'm leaning more towards the guy who will come to my house, take it whole and give me cash. I figured if someone around here locally on the board did that sort of thing or had family or friends that wanted the job I'd give it to them. If it doesn't work out I was thinking about a midnight run to the local boat slip and just dropping it into the Schuylkill River and be done with it- just kidding!! hehe

We always cut them up and took them to the scrap yards in pieces. Of course by the time we took everything off that we wanted there was not much left.

We always said we were like the "Eskimos and the Whales", we recycle almost everything.

    Hey Kevin,
Did you get rid of that 64 yet?
I just visited a local guy with some 65 GS's for sale. One car needs some odd items like a section of drip rail, and trunk latch area sheetmetal.

Hi Walt I still have it. What side drip rail? I cut out the entire passenger side drip rail for my car and the rear 1/4 window and back on drivers side for my car. For trunk latch area do you mean on the body shell? Because I'm using the trunk lid for my car.
