One of the rear quarter glass on my 71 skylark conv. Was not installed correctly. When I went to put the window back in I noticed that the bottom roller was broken. With a little more investigating I found the roller from the original still on the track( that window must of broke). How can I replace the broken roller on the window. I tried some but was scared to break the window. Thanks.

The opposite side of the roller should have two holes about 3/16" dia, you place the tips of needle nose pliers in the holes and unscrew the mounting plate. Should unscrew easily.

George-apparently easy is not in my vocab. I tried using pliers but it won't budge. I put PB blaster on it and still nothing. Do I need to hold the other side or am I missing something. Thanks again for your help.

They make a special tool for that, if you go to a glass shop they MIGHT do it for free.

You may need to be patient and let the PB Blaster soak for a day or two....should then come out with minor effort.

Yup, I have 2 different tools, a socket with 2 pins that I got from Snap-On you use with a ratchet, and another tool with a socket w/ 2pins and a 6" crossbar attached I bought from a glass guy.

Tomorrow will have to do. Bad day-broke the roller, not by unscrewing but by dropping it on the floor.

Ok got the roller off, replaced it. Does someone know of a post that explains how to re-install the quarter window. I tried searching, but couldn't come up with anything. Tried lining up rollers, but that didn't do it, I know I am missing something. :Do No:
    Thanks.

You need to have the regulator loose....have an assistant hold the glass and gently move the regulator into the glass guide channel......then move the regulator in place and bolt it in....not difficult...just a lil frustrating.

George-as always thanks. Just for clarification, as I am learning as I go, the regulator is the one that cranks the window. If I am right, there are 4 bolts that hold the regulator?

Yes, the regulator moves the glass and has 4 mounting bolts

George- with a litte help from a friend the glass went in beautifully. Now the next issue, before final installation I check the window gap on the passenger side and it is way off. ( here's a pic). How do I go about correcting this large gap? And how large is the gap between the windows- is there a general rule of thumb or is it exact? thanks

Easy fix.....loosen the window's upper stops....let them fall down on the screw studs.....now, have the assistant hold the window where it belongs when up......what you want to change as you have it now......you want to slightly lower the front upper stop and the rear upper stop has to go a lot further down...this will place the window in the proper position.....don't forget you need to get the chrome strip on and then moisten the rubber strip with WD-40 or soapy water and slide it in the chrome strip/channel.....then you can make your final adjustment so it mates up flush to the pass side glass
