Quarter panel extension gasket?

Does anyone know if a gasket or weather stripping goes between the quarter panel extension and the quarter panel or is it just a metal to metal contact? My car has nothing there and I can see a little bit of light coming through where they meet.

Metal on metal early 70 cars had a thin gasket but wasn't visible from the out side

Take a wood dowel and lightly bump the mounting holes down that will sinch it up tight

My 67 had the flaky remains of those gaskets when I got it. I did exactly what hugger suggested, painted the mating surfaces and reassembled. Been fine ever since. Besides, try finding replacements; they’re unobtanium.

I bought a 2 foot piece of 1/16" rubber and cut out my own gaskets. I figured if they used them back in 67, I should use them too.
