Hi My carb is acting up some. I get very little response when adjusting the idle mixture screews It wont idle properly, but when i put my hand over the carb it idles fine. Its running lean, but cant adjust it to idle properly ? Could it be dirt somwhere ?? Borge
Check for vacuum leaks everywhere. Check all vacuum hoses and the base of the Quadrajet. It's getting air from somewhere else that it shouldn't be.
Thanks, will do that. My engine i also rebulidt,new pistons++ , and installed a Comp.cam. Should i get a kit to match the engine setup ? Borge
If you have increased compression and added cam lift, then you may need to rework your Quadrajet and drill out the idle tubes to allow more air flow during idle. You can order parts from cliffshighperformance.com if you are going to do it yourself.
