Steve, I have a slight allergy to dogs and cats so a non shedder is a must. I am leaning towards a terrier. Probably an Airedale.

Mark, yes I over research everything. My father grew up with Collies so I have been warned. With my slight allergy to dogs I am looking at low shedding terriers. Funny people need licenses to drive but anyone can breed?

...few years back, one of the Westminster dog show commentators said "for true dog lovers, dog hair is a condiment." Nearly fell off the couch laughing. We've eaten a lot of dog hair over the years...:)

I have loved Collies since i was a teen. We have had a few ourselves. Love he breed. one of the best dogs for kids. I would have no problems having a collie around any of my grandkids. When we lived back in MI. We used to baby sit a kennel, Star Gazer, Bernie and Phyllis Howard. when they went to shows. Our oldest has been attacked by a pack of Collie puppies more than once. He loved it. He plans on getting a collie once he gets his own home.
Tri-county Collie rescue is a great organization, We had to give up our blue to them years ago. They found her a great home with a groomer.

Collies are definitely cool dogs, our latest Collie, Sky, (short for skylark) has no bark box, previous owners had his and a few of their other collies voice box removed the poor fella has NO voice. Can’tet yah know when he needs out or in, if something hurts or even growl at the other dogs:mad::mad: I feel SO BAD for him, I’d like to find the vet that performed that butchery and cut his tounge out, a lot of humans SUCK:mad:

...understand your feelings, Mark. Developing the ability to "converse" with our Dobies has been a highlight in making each of them part of our family.

Our Female Blue was bark softened (the new term for it) She still barked but she sounded horse. It was comical. I have had the dog hair in the house for years. With having Collies, Then recently Shelties now a long haired mini Doxie. Hair is everywhere.

Mark, Sky is so pretty. I always loved the blues.
