I have a 1975 350 v8 with a power steering pump bracket from a 69 Skylark [pump and bracket purchased on this forum]. I have the old PS pump but am assuming it has probably seen its better days. My power steering gear is from an '87 Chevy S10. I need a pump that will fit my bracket [and hopefully power the gear from the S10] as the universal pump I recently bought has only one stud on the back side and the Buick bracket needs two. Hope this isn't confusing. Everything is sitting on and in an S10 frame. I rebuilt the engine and TH400 transmission last year and am ready for a/c, alternator, and PS pump and brackets. I poked around online and didn't see what is needed but probably don't know where to look or go. Any help would surely be appreciated.

The 67-70 power steering pump and brackets will not match the later pulley's .unless you change all the pulley's from a 67 to 70 system. Also you might need a short water pump.Bruno.

The S10 box will have O-ring fittings and not a flare. You'll either need a later pump with O-ring fittings or have a hose made. The pumps are all Saginaws. Ive heard its possible to switch fittings on the pump to accommodate either style fitting. I can't confirm that though. I'd imagine you could change the studs around as needed.

Thanks to each of you for all of this. I have been told that the saginaw gears are very similar and probably interchangeable with pumps and that fittings for each will change. I will find someone locally who can create new hoses and fittings.

Bruno, I think you are right ...... the PS pump bracket will not fit the holes in the block [69 bracket is about 3 1/4 center to center and the 75 350 v8 holes are about 3 1/2 center to center - I was so sure they were all the same. I figured out how to make the new pump I bought work but the bracket won't work. FYI - I have a long water pump. Will look in 'parts wanted' for a later one. Thanks for the heads up ........ lane

Andy, that is what I thought ........ mine is off by about 3/16 of an inch ............ the seller told me it was from a 69 skylark ......... what could I be doing wrong?

Post a picture of what you have and how you line it up. You should have an aluminum bracket that bolts to head, and 2 stamped steel brackets that sandwich the pump to that.

Andy, I don't have the aluminum bracket that bolts to the head. I have the stamped steel brackets that sandwich the pump. So that's where I am off. Don't have any visual references either. When I bought this vehicle and its' Buick engine and matching tranny all the stuff that bolts to the head and block were gone so I really didn't know [and still don't] what I was doing. Am grateful for direction on this forum to have found Longhorn SS who makes an alternator and a/c bracket to accommodate a Sanden compressor. That bracket is on its way. Anyhow, the aluminum bracket for the power steering pump is apparently what I don't have.

    thanks,

This is what the Power Steering brackets look like for 68-70. This is a 455, but the aluminum portion is the same, the front and rear steel brackets are different for the 350.
