This is a rear view of the 19 model at a local dealership. Not sure why this “redesign “ was needed or warranted. Looks smaller and more like Colorado/Canyon. Not sure why they would wish to make the full size resemble the midsize.
Man do I hate to say this - I rented an Enterprise F-250 to tow my 16' trailer with the model T to Florida from Massachusetts. It was a fantastic truck with one exception. It had an automatic transmission that (on cruise control) would downshift if a flea hit the windshield. If it was a manual with cruise control I would have given it a score of 100 on a scale of 1 to 100. With the automatic and the way overly sensitive cruise control I would give it about an 80.
Keep closing them plants GM. Move the factory's to Mexico after we bailed you ass out. GM can suck it!
I've owned three 2000-2002 Chevy-GMC trucks. When one needed to be replaced, I try to find one that hasn't been abused and has relatively low miles. To me, they are the most comfortable, easy to work on trucks I have ever owned. And the captain chair bucket seats can't be beat.
I've got a black 97 GMC ext cab, short bed, 2wd pickup Starcraft conversion. Factory lowered with different seats and wood dash/door/console trim. Gold exterior striping and Vortex wheels. Never seen one like it. Put big sway bars on front and rear. 8in wheels front 10in rear. Can really toss into corners. Has little 305 with 180K miles....at least 100K of it towing! Trans cooler in radiator blew out twice....my fault...I put one of those electronic BM trans shift improvers on. Apparently too much line pressure. Had to go with a separate trans cooler. 3 front brake jobs and one rear. Plugs and wires. Resoldered wiper motor circuit. Plastic intake still hanging in there. I put a 180 stat in when I got it ....maybe that helped. That's all folks....
F150 8'bed. This is what I currently have. The rear extended cab door quit opening. Guys were telling me these were notorious for locks rusting and seizing. I kept my locks lubed so I was a bit puzzled. Removing the inner door panel, with the door closed, was easier than I was told. I got inside to find the chintzy plastic retainer holding the lower lock rod broken. Door opened right up when I reached down and pulled lock rod. I had a nylon retainer in my parts. Lubed everything well and reassembled. Works great. View attachment 426918
Rode in my son's 2019 chevy and it had the most miserable seats I have ever ridden in. One hour of that and it was torture. Yes I have a Ford F150 (09), and am quite happy with it. Why does GM offer two different door sizes on the crewcabs, seems like the parts inventory headaches would outweight any space savings. Had a 2011 ecoboost and it was a rocket, beat dodges and chevys with that one. We use aluminum to build offshore boats, so if Ford used the right stuff they should never rust.
The shorter door models are now called "Double Cabs". Used to be called "Extended Cabs". The longer door models are the "Crew Cabs"
hey, just posting my feelings man, don't get upset. I have a cousin that lost his job twice now from GM plant closures, now he has to uproot his family for a third time if he wants to continue to add to his UAW pension in the hopes of having a decent retirement. The topic is close to my heart and im passionate about it. Sorry, I will continue to drive Ford vehicles for my daily's, just my personal preference. not Hatin, just preachin brother.......
315,000 miles on my 89 Chevy C1500. Is it comfortable? No. Does it work? Darn thing just wont die. I think when it finally does I'm gonna thank it for its service with a proper burial & a 21 gun salute!
Those aluminum bodies have issues. My friends wife works at Ford dealership. They are having huge issues with door latches and doors flying open. Apparently the aluminum flexes too much and the door pulls away from the latch. They are seeing a ton of them with this problem. Ford is backtracking fast and they won’t even give the poor guys with the problem a loaner. She has almost quit because of this having to deal with irate customers all the time. It wears on you. I had a 2010 F150 that was a good running and good looking truck until it developed an internal engine issue and lost half its power. Ford said there was nothing wrong with it? A member here who has his own shop and is familiar with the 5.4 engine said it was internal timing issue that was expensive to fix. I traded it in on my Chevy and they gave me $9,500 for it. I couldn’t get the keys out of my pocket fast enough. Now I am a happy camper. 40,000 miles and not one problem. That’s my old one next to it.
‘07 Tahoe 5.3 with 237k on it, and in ten years we’ve done one control arm, an oil pressure switch and one biggie, a throttle body. Tires and brakes occasionally. Very comfy, still looks good. It’ll go to second string soon (I’ll drive it, wife wants a newer ‘Hoe, Burban or truck). I want to see how long the thing will run!
