I hear ya. Old school RWD... I hate transverse mounted motors they torque steer to much for my liking ... Sorry not a fan of the 88 and newer trucks. Im not comfortable sitting in them and now no manual trans. FWIU

My 2016 Chevy Silverado is the best and most comfortable Pickup I have ever owned. It drives more like a luxury car. Old pickups just don’t compare. It’s just like our old cars. Driving on the highway with the big blocks reving away sounding like a bomb about to go off while People with Coexist decals on their Prius’ pass you at 80. Old stuff is fun but let’s face it they have limitations.

Nothing against them. I drive friends newer trucks all the time . my body just dont fit right in them.. Fords trucks I cant be be in one for 50 miles and my back is killing me.

My Chevy seat adjusts in infinite configurations. It’s hard to believe you could find one to fit you.

My 2017 Sierra is less comfortable than my 2006 Silverado was. The suspension is very stiff and the seats are narrower. I miss the comfort of my old truck.

Back to the OP. I hear ya. I currently have 5 GM vehicles. Never thought I would be brand loyal like this because I love all cars (some more than others). I have accumulated the majority of them over the last few years. I have the 2 Buicks, my 2017 Sierra, 2004 GTO, and now a 2012 Caprice. I need to thin the herd. It's a sickness. What kind of monster have I become?

I got short legs long back... I got a 95 single cab Dodge. My nieghbor has a 97 club cab I dont fit in it as well as I fit in the 95. my 93 dodge club cab is even better for me on cab fit. Now the ride is a bit ruff. personally ill take the ruffer ride than sit in something thats uncomfortable . BTW I can make the ride smoother by putting the short rear springs out of a chevy in the front ,,,,and replace the rears with long Chevy rear springs.
But then Id have a smooth riding no cant haul weight truck.

Subaru Outback. Im stuck with the 96-99 body. 2000 -14 I cant even get into I blast my head into the roof.
My 67 skylark is not fun to get in and out of.

Every body is different. I stick to what fits me.

FWIW I did drive the 17 duramax the other day. Not my cup of tea. Seat sucks.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

We currently own GMs, Chryslers, a Ford, a VW and a Toyota. Various years from 1965 to 2014. Each have their own merits and demerits. Our '05 Z/71 4WD ext. cab, has leather seating and they are quite comfy. I plowed snow with an '04 with cloth seats. I didn't like them near as well. Not enough bolstering. I hardy drive the Z/71. I've been thinking about selling the newly acquired (January) 4Runner and the Z/71 to buy a late model crew cab. I don't need two nice 4X4s. Not certain, if I do, what model I will purchase.

I have been loyal to GM and Ford for many years, when looking for a Truck I drove them all, settled on a Ram Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab, the ride and comfort was the sell. I never thought that I would own a Dodge product but really liked the 15 Hemi Charger I took a chance on. No knock on Ford or Chevy but the Ram was my preference, so far so good.

I guess I am a proud GM owner, too! I did a quick count of the vehicles my wife & I have owned since we have been together and it looks like this:

    16 - GM's
    3 - BMW's
    3 - Mercedes
    3 - VW's
    2 - Nissan's
    2 - AMC's (Military Jeeps)
    2 - Honda's
    1 - Dodge

This does not count all the various motorcycles that we have had...

Same. I had all GM trucks until now. Not so much brand loyal, they were always just what I found I liked and in my price range. This time I had more flexibility in price range, so I went and drove multiple trucks from every manufacturer and ended up with a ram. The hemi/8 speed is fantastic. I will say the seats are a little stiff, GM truck seats are a bit more comfortable. Next time I'm in the market I'll do the same. Drive em all and pick the one I like most. Who knows what it'll be.

And Ronnie, a clean truck is a happy truck!!

You forgot to clean the tires!

A cleaned black truck with dirty black wall tires makes them look like you need new ones. They make the stuff you just spray on the tires to make them look brand new, not like its hard to do. Other than that it looks good.

I found that with GM trucks the Z71 have a much stiffer ride that the base 4x4. I have the non Z71 4x4. I had a guy with same year Chevy as mine come up to me in a parking lot want to swap shocks with mine because his wife said his Z71 ran to rough. Sorry no deal.

Been a GM guy since high school, especially trucks. Besides the 3 gens of buick's we currently own, we have 3 blazers and a Silverado HD. All registered and regularly driven. We tried a new ford in 2004. biggest pile of crap I ever bought and ford clearly demonstrated why the factory warranty was only 3 years 36k miles. It was the only car i have ever had to junk less than 10 yrs old and under 100k because it wasn't fixable due to inferior engineering. Ill walk before buying another found on road dead product. Have some good memories with dodge power wagons of the 70's, but better memories with the older GMC's and Chevs. My yard is current 100% GM products and not likely to change anytime soon. Dependable, easy to repair and parts plentiful. I give my buddies with fords crap all the time. When a buddy in a 2017 fi50 slow speed side swipped a ballard and peeled his aluminum truck open stem to stern, I couldn't believe the damage. also seen them aluminum beds blow apart too. effing junk. worst part is the ford dealer or local bodyshops didn't do aluminum body repairs and getting it repaired was an expensive nightmare o_O

Funny, a fella I worked with bought a new aluminum F150. He was flying model rockets and one landed on his roof. It pierced the roof and he had to have it completely re-skinned. A very pricey repair and took some effort to find a shop to do it. Not to turn this into a Ford bashing thread, just an anecdote related to yours.
