    Hi All,

Have what I believe to be a stock 70 BA T400. What are the propoer shift ponts from 1st to 3nd ad then to 3rd. either speed or rpm wise. maybe just used to modern cars but seems I'm in 3rd by 305 mph and at 55 engine seems to be revving high. don't have tach yet but in the works. hector

The shift points are highly dependent on manifold vacuum, fed back to the vacuum modulator. If
they are too low, the vac mod and governor may be tuned to raise them. Bruce Roe

Shift points will vary according to rear gear ratio, and engine load. If you are talking about minimum throttle shift points, in general, 1-2 at 9-12 MPH, 2-3 at 20-30 MPH. Part throttle shift points will be more, the harder you step on it, the higher it will shift. At wide open throttle, the shift points will be at a maximum. The Governor calibrations will determine WOT shift points, and to a lesser degree, minimum and part throttle shift points. Minimum throttle shift points are more modulator related. Some modulators are meant to be adjusted.

It will downshift at any mph though correct say for instance around 50
On my car I don't really feel it
    Car has 293 gears
I gotta check out my situation this weekend
Don't mean to highjack the thread

thanks for the helpful comments. Following up on OHC Joe's comments, at what speed/rpm would it be dangerous/damaging to downshift from 3 to 1. For example, you are cruising at 60 in a 40, and a late model anything is taunting, and you don't need another reason to do something stupid. TY Hector
