I need some opinions on top end price for a car I am looking at buying. It is a 446370H VIN and looks 100% as it rolled off the factory floor but it is 100% non-numbers matching. It was a complete frame off nut and bolt restoration on a completely uncut rust free car and only has 1000 miles on it since completed. The only options it has is A/C and Power Disc Brakes and working OE gauges, no tach though. It has the in-dash clock that has been converted toa quartz movement. The engine is a .030 over 455 built to Stage 1 specs with the large Stage 1 valves and hardenedd seats. The Transmission is a TH-400 with aboot a 2500 stahl converter and the rearend is a 12-bolt 3.55 gear with a locker posi unit. There was no stone left unturned, over $50k was spent on the restoration I know this because I know who restored it.

Any opinions on pricing will be greatly appreciate.
    Thank you

Pictures would certainly help any evaluation, Skylark, GS, bench seat, buckets, color, wheels?

so if a true GS BB and Museum Quality about $40k....If a Skylark then $30k.....Too many variables to be accurate.

Your price opinion really helps, to clarify, It is an original BB car, code 75 Fire Red with no vinyl top and code 188 black bucket seats and floor shift auto. The wheels are 15" Super Sports. This thing is absolutely beautiful and solid just not a numbers matching car. I cannot verify if it was an original Stage 1 car or not without running for Sloan document to prove what it is. It very well could be an original Stage 1 as it does have a 446370H VIN. None of that matters much as the original drivetrain is long gone.

Then with all that information it’s in the $4ok if a #1 driver/ showroom quality, a Documented Stage 1 non numbers matching is another $10k...Numbers matching Stage 1 $60k plus easily

IMHO, it does matter (w/o getting into a discussion on philosophy:)) to the market (i.e. value) whether it is an original Stage 1 car even if non #'s. I'd think it adds much more than $10k (@72 Stage 1 did say "easily":)) as unfortunately std. 455 cars w/few exceptions (GSX's) don't bring big $. As an (extreme) example, Deogi just sold his beautiful 455 4-sp. convertible (NOM) for $50k (ish). Same car as an orig. (NOM) Stage 1 would've probably been north of $100k. I've also said many times that IMHO, an original rust-free uncut sheetmetal car should command a premium but... That being said, if the car is really done as correctly as indicated and whether or not it's originally a Stage 1 & you "overpay" a little so what? You could never build the car for that (depending of course on what they're asking price is). I don't think $50k is unreasonable if it's a std. 455 car. There's one being discused in another thread (IIRC #'s matching which on a 455 car doesn't ding the valve as much as on a Stage 1 and on a 350 car not as much as on a 455) and they're asking $49k. @BYoung used to own the car and the number everyone was throwing out there was $40k and it was semi-restored 20 years ago (I may not have that story 100%). I don't think $60-70k is unreasonable for an orig Stage 1 (NOM). Jeff Horsman's old NOM '70 Stage 1 4-sp (done right) sold at auction about 2 years ago for almost $80k (over that w/fees). Sorry to ramble - Hope this helps.

Thanks Dano, Every little bit of information helps. I was actually hoping to get more of a fair street value, rather than an auction value as auctions are usually higher priced by quite a bit.

Yw. I only referenced that b/c it was an NOM Stage 1 that was done correctly. The 455 cars were not auction prices.
