Anyone here ever tracked down your cars previous owners for historical info? If you did how did you do it? DMV ect.? Any tips thanks. o No:
I reached a dead end with my 69 search through the DMV. they were not able to go back before 1977. I then called the theft division of my local police dept. After a month I received a call from the inspector I spoke with. Scared me since I had forgotten about it. He brought me all the paperwork back to the MSO. I guess I got Lucky.
I tracked my cars past through all the old paperwork in the glove box.(on the internet) With the exception of the guy I bought it from all are deceased. I did track down the second owners son that said although he remembered his dad having the car he don't remember anything about it except that his dad didn't drive it much. Woweee! My 2500th post!
I've gotten some information from various state DMV's. Others I have gotten from the records with the car at the time of purchase. I still want to find more on a couple of my cars to complete the paperwork trail.
My X was originally purchased in Arkansas. For $1 the State of Arkansas DMV sent me photocopies of all registration applications for my car.
Lee I realize this is a old thread but did you ever find out anything. North Carolina will trace a car sold in NC all the way back to the MSO. PA will only go back 10 years. The thing to remember is when contacting you DMV is to tell them you are doing it for RESEARCH . I know MD will do it also.
