I have the 430 on a stand and it'll be there until the trans , drive shaft and headers come back from the shops doing the work. Have the engine nearly complete and want to check for internal coolant leaks. Have used expansion plugs on the upper and lower out lets and caps on the heater hose connections. Gonna screw a valve stem into one of the sending unit ports and pump it up. Thinking it should hold 25 psi to be sure no leaks once its installed. Waddaya think?

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Is 25 psi the upper limit of normal operating pressure for the cooling system?

Usually 15-16 psi is what caps are rated to.

25 psi would give plenty of safety margin then

My thinking is this. Any leaks in the rad, core or lines is pretty easy fix. something internal not so much. I'm using the Evans coolant which does not build pressure and wont boil until 375*. However a blunder on my part due to cutting corners caused it to get into the oil and caused the need for this rebuild. Soooo I wanna be extra safe
