I was thinking of having some parts blasted and powder coated.
    Suspension, frame, wheels, brackets etc.
somebody was telling me not to as powder coating chips and peels easy.?
Just wondering what your guys thoughts are about this.

Proper base preparation is key to any finish.

Powder coating is pretty durable if the parts are prepped correctly, and the product is applied properly.

Powdercoat and paint will both "chip", or have the base metal exposed if impacted by rocks and other debris.

Paint can be touched up more readily to repair any blemishes and may cost less overall.

But I think powder-coat, even with some chipping, provides a better finish over time, for the money spent.

On my '64 Skylark, all my suspension is powder-coated, and most any "damage" has been a result of my doing maintenance, and inadvertently scraping against the parts, rather than any road debris damage, and I drive it quite a bit.

I spent a fair buck having parts powder coated. I would not do it again. Most of the parts I bought were powder coated by the vendor as an option. There was no prep or adhesion. After 5+ years i have lots of parts that have peeled off in big sections.

There is nothing that can be done with stone chips.

Some parts I'll paint others I coat. stated above, paint is easily repaired. The powder coated stuff is only in protected locations.

Thanks ,for the responses. I think I will stick with paint.

Another, question. Which do you guys prefer for paint stripping. Blast or chemical strip?
