Ok there has been talk of implementing a new class at BG for racing on Friday night under the lights. Steve Kessler who has built TSM back up the last several years has come up with the idea. I would like to get a primary V8 sponsor and have a V8 class as they are doing one for 109 block (stock 3.8 Turbo Buick motor). Here are the rules so far for the 109 class: King of the 109 Cash Days 16 car field - buy in required 275s or 28x10 tires 109 blocks Door cars with stock style suspension Instant green tree Chip draw for matchups - callouts allowed. Repeat each round. Winner take all No rules, no excuses, RWYB So V8 guys what do you think? We have a primary sponsor designed for the V6 and would probably have a king of the hill run off between 109 vs 455 etc... Looking to be Friday night under the lights at BG! Could be a great resurrection of grudge racing especially in BG. Let me know your thoughts. Trying to get this all finalized by the end of the month! Tony Rose
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme Im all for it. Dont have anything to run that fits into the class but it would be way fun to watch. 1/8th or 1/4 mile?
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme Bump for this great idea. Our car is nowhere near ready but this would be very cool.
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme I'm not ready either but I will be pulling my 67GS out there one of these years from California to play with you all :3gears: I dont't have a 109 but the brochure looks nice. it's on my to get list. right after the 70GS stg1
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme RWYB - Sounds like fun, However for us V8 guys it would be much simpler if each of us that wanted to run this just mailed a check for $1000.00 to Rod Hendickson, results would be the same.
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme I am going to get a lenient set of rules and see if i can get a halfway decent car count together for this class. Wayne will we see you in BG this fall with the GSX drag car?
Re: Possible new racing class (grudge style ) in BG during GS Nationals! Please comme Wayne will we see you in BG this fall with the GSX drag car?[/QUOTE] Yes, I plan on being there with the car. That said I planed on it the last 2 years. However problems on the dyno and the date move got in the way of my plans. I Have it on the race schedule, my crew chief is also looking forward to missing school for the race.
Keep it Simple! think your N/A Buicks bad! Bring it! 3000lb min Weight with driver checked after each pass. Single 4 barrel must be Buick body and power .(stock TA Bulldog blocks ok) any suspension OK any tire OK any fuel OK any trans OK NO Power adders Must be NA. 500 pro tree 8 car qualified field heads up. no times displayed only the bump will show.looking for an 8 sec field Roberts Kent Kubisch Strube tailor made for you guys Tomaszewski Hendrickson(hawk)Mackley (regal)could easily fit in . Up to the owners drivers to show---make a show!
You need a tire size limit and or a weight penalty for large tires. Also a weight penalty for power adder. Add 250 pounds for larger tires Add 500 for power adder. Add 250 for aftermarket block also. Remove 250 for iron heads. I can keep going and get the rules really fair. Otherwise you will have 1 car way ahead of everyone else.
^^^^ this! Don't want to exclude any Buicks. There aren't enough Buick race cars as it is. Need to set this up with weight penalties. That way everyone can compete and it levels the field a bit. N/A and single carb rule is going to leave out a lot of Tomahawk powered cars in the future.
Another good rule is no purpose built cars. It should still have the factory frame in place for most of the vehicle. I think if you gear the rules around 9.0 quarter mile cars then make it also with the v6 cars you can have a good class.
I like what Dave M posted. You should make rules simple and design a class with 20 possible cars who will show up. Will my new billet heads be OK, if not will a pro stock style cast head be OK, what about billet blocks? Remember there is nothing Buick about are motors but the bore spacing, and can we change that? Then the Big question, the payout????
Does Dave M's suggestion on the Mackley Regal, go against the stock style suspension rule? It looks like both Geof and Amy's cars have been backhalved. Based on the two pictures on the finishline website.
