I voted bracket, since you made it an all or nothing proposition. I still think running index for the faster cars and brackets for the slow cars makes the most sense. I've never seen a regular event with an index class for anything slower than the 11s. (And since index racing is getting so popular, that is why I hardly have a place to race other than TnT any more...  :af: )

I should be running pretty close to 13 flat, so I voted index, but I dont really care to be honest.

I would think that bracket is more competitive since there will be a bunch of folks sandbagging to run in the next highest index above their time.

Sandbagging is going to be inevitable with an index class. Most cars dont run a 13.00 or a 12.00 or whatever the index may be. even if you're 3 tenths off the index, youre going to have to slow the car down to the next class so that you can run the same number every time and be competitive.

67GS I'm not sure much racing experience you have (sorry not slamming you) but bracket racing is not that much different from Index racing. To me it's not fun having a 11sec car run a 14sec car. A 3 sec wait at the tree is a long time. Hitting the brakes at the end not to break out that's not racing.
At least in Index it's heads up. There are a lot of cars that don't run balls to wall when bracket racing. I know the LSPBC has been doing a bracket race at Redline for the past few years. The only reason we do brackets and not index is there are not enough cars.

I voted Index but we could do both?

Also Phil, could you please do the same poll on Turbo Buick, there are a lot of turboguys that don't post on this board.

Phil, also my son Geoff, votes Index. I am unable to add his vote. He will be racing the GN, I am racing the GS.

If the bracket classes are broken down the same way you want to run your index class, then the longest the quicker car would be waiting at the tree is less than a second. If both cars are dialed in properly, and they both cut a good light, they should be dead even at the end of the track. Thats a lot more exciting to me, and usually spectators. I'd much rather watch the quicker car try to run down the other car, than see the race determined in the first 100 feet.

I wouldnt mind seeing both run. But have the index classes start at 11.00
Cars running that quick are going to have a lot more options when it comes to getting close to their index, than a street car would (which is what's going to make up the majority of the cars in the field).

I voted Bracket, but I'm with Nicholas and the guy in the nice Ivory 67 GS 400 :) , why not index the fast cars and let us not-so-fast guys run bracket?

Or, for that matter, would it be possible for everybody to run brackets, and group like cars together, so that the racing is more or less even? Kinda like bracket racing within indexes... :Do No:

Why not run a bracket program like they do with the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge? Where the classes would be broken down the way you have them listed for the index classes?

    Brackets

Your gonna find the average racer will not understand racing on an index its complicated. You will have a better time with brackets. I will be more than happy to explain index to anyone curious though.

I think when he says "GS," he is using that term rather loosely, as in that front-wheel drive thing he takes to headlight out of to pretend it's a race car!

Oh hey I know all in fun. Tree you? I might get the good reaction time but with the FWD it is taking off easy and then balls to the wall. :)

It looks like a very close race on the Polls. Both boards total, it is
    Index 9 Brackets 7.

Racing with an index is not anymore complicated than bracket racing. The question at hand is not who understands what, but rather, who wants to run a bracket program or an index program.
