You can look at all the photos you want but trial and error (need more grinding) is the way I got my headers to fit. I used 2" headers (brand unknown) for a 67 Skylark in my Regal and had them in/out probably 10 times. Because my headers were not intended for a Regal I had to have one tube (#7) moved over a bit but when I was done the headers didn't rub against anything and had no dents in them. I thought I would go crazy before I got them to fit.

In my regal it was a pain. Before dropping the motor in we had to prop the headers inside the frame and after alot of raising and lowering and 3 people helping and a few dings later they fit snug and worked great. I dont have pics though as I sold the car a while ago.

THANKS MUCH. I PLAN ON GOING THE SAME ROUTE (first I will be padding the heater box and the passenger side valve cover ... banged them up years ago with first REGAL455). I APPRECIATE YOUR REPLY/TIME.

I used T/A 2" long tubes on mine. I used a blown up 455 as a template for every thing while my real engine was at machine shop. The driver side when in with no issues at all. The passenger side I had to do a little cutting on the lower control arm (very little), but on the upper control arm there was just no way I could take that much off the arm , so I ended up buying a pair of tubular upper arms and problem solved. I have no A/C or heater box to deal with.
