I have heard from quite a few people about board members 'stiffing' others for shipping costs on free parts. Just a friendly reminder to please pay agreed on shipping costs in a timely fashion. Thanks!!
Pretty hard to complain George when the parts are shipped free....funny how NO ONE mentions THAT :TU:
I just wanted to let everybody here know about a free part AND free shipping I got from a long time board member, but will do that in a separate thread. A true Buick Class act!!
I'll say it again... if any money (shipping costs) needs to change hands, get your money before you ship, unless you KNOW and TRUST the other party, or if you don't care if you get paid.
Really! Someone got something of value and didn't prepay the freight. If you want it that bad you can get $'s there the same or next day. At least trade him for something even if it's an old steak for the dog!
My previous post was NOT an attack on ANYBODY. All my dealings on V8 have been great except for 1 piece of sheetmetal. That fella knows who he is :af:. I would rather give it away then throw it away. Even if it costs me to ship it. I believe in karma. What goes around ...comes around, and maybe some of the stuff I have given away to guys will come back in the future with something I need.
I may not have been clear on the above post... Various parts were offered as 'free- just pay for shipping'. Item gets shipped, the cost of said shipping is promised and not sent or just plain never sent. Also, PLEASE let the sender know you received the part!!!! It is ALWAYS a guessing game whether or not a part has arrived and it was 'satisfactory'. ou:
True, but that is a PITA. It requires two trips to the Post Office / Shipper for most of us. You have package it up and take it to the post office, stand in line, and then they tell you the shipping cost. Then, after you get paid, you have to do it all over again! Takes the fun out of giving something away.
Here's a link to the USPS. Makes pricing easy. http://postcalc.usps.gov/ Fred QUOTE=cjp69;2058198]True, but that is a PITA. It requires two trips to the Post Office / Shipper for most of us. I have had nothing but great experiences with members of this forum maybe I've been lucky but I think it's the quality of the members. If some one goes out of their way to help you as many here have for me, the least you should do is pay what was promised and follow up with a acknowledgment of the transaction's completion. It just common courtesy
Weather I buy or sell small stuff I get the address and send cash. Takes the PITA out of the transaction. I trust most people on here and have had success both ways. If I'm sending something out I send it right away and don't worry about payment. It always comes. If it doesn't, Oh Well. But dont expect anything else. PONCH
Guys, this is all true. I agree with you. I unfortunately was one of the few who got burned. No names will be mentioned but I will say that I sent a bunch of free brake parts and was challenged over a $3.00 difference in what he expected and what the actual shipping costs were, total shipping costs were $12.00. It became an ugly public brawl. The individual was banned from V8Buick, came back under a different name, got caught and was banned again. I gave the parts away in the good spirit of helping out a fellow V8Buick member and I would do it again despite my one bad experience. This is an awesome group!
